Carlisle Cathedral Precinct - City of Carlisle. Sunrise yesterday morning within the Precinct of Carlisle Cathedral, looking towards the Cathedral itself with a glorious sunrise sky behind. This year marks the 900th anniversary of this landmark which was founded by King Henry I as an Augustinian Priory in 1122. Throughout the centuries, the interior and exterior of the structure has had many modifications, as has the surrounding Precinct area which now has the latest addition of the Cathedral Cafe which can be seen to the right here. I wanted to include this large lamp in the composition, and luckily it stayed illuminated long enough for me to capture this panorama including the burning sunrise sky beyond before automatically switching off minutes later.
