Here’s my piece for the Luxe Paws Fundraiser Cat Art Show. It’s a peculiar place doll called Cat Fishing. My Peculiar Place Dolls have antique doll bodies with glass sphere heads each containing a visual place of mind that I create with peculiar items. The bodies are made of hand stitched leather stuffed with straw. This doll’s place of mind features a transparent cat looking into a bowl full of iridescent fish in vibrant hues with sparkling jeweled eyes. But as the play on the words in the title suggest, this can also be seen as an invisible predator in plain sight, who has their eye on their prize. Materials: preserved fish, swiss blue topaz, fire sapohire, white sapphire, antique doll body, glass. 20”x8”x3”. This Saturday, June 13th, 12pm PST @stephanieinagaki will be live-streaming on IG from @coprogallery so everyone can view the opening safely from home. A percentage of the sales will go to @luxepaws - a Los Angeles based volunteer street rescue effort, focused on TNR (trap, neuter, return) of the local stray kitty population.
