Thomas Sanders is the proud owner of five wonderful kitties
So letâs meet the Kitties:
Thereâs Roman, a gray calico kitty. He loves his feather toy, baths, and being the center of attention and head scratches
Thereâs Patton, the big golden fluffball who is more or less a dog. He loves his toy which is a mini version of him, he also loves belly rubs
Thereâs Logan, a gray cat who enjoys sleeping on bookshelves and fighting with Roman for the top spot on the cat tower. He also enjoys sneaking into the shower.
Thereâs Dee, a yellow, black, and gray cat who spends most of his time waiting for the day he can finally get Remy the goldfish out of his bowl without getting himself wet. He hasnât figured it out yet but heâs trying.
Then thereâs Virgil. The all black kitty who has a knack for disappearing and will only come out when a laser pointer encourages him to.
And those are the kitties until:
âUh Thomas. I thought you had five cats?â
âI do?â
âWell thereâs a sixth.â
â... One, two, three, four, five... six... Oh my gosh heâs adorable. He looks like Roman with his ear bitten!â
âHe also looks dirty.â
âIâll bathe him.â
âIts a cat. And it could have rabies or something.â
âJust a bath and then to the vet. What could go wrong?â
Turns out this new cat wasnât a fan of baths. He touched the soapy water and high tailed it out of kitchen sink- knocking Virgil who had come to investigate in- and ran off spreading water and soap wherever he went
This new cat was named Remus. An outdoors cat who somehow found his way to a new home. Not that Thomas minded or well he didnât when Remus wasnât knocking things off tables or playing loudly with random things at three in the morning
Thomas Sanders is the proud owner of five six wonderful kitties
Random times with the kitties:
Thomas decided to take em on a walk:
Roman is game
Remus doesnât like leashes and pulls a lot
Logan is intrigued
Patton is loving it
Dee looks like he rather be elsewhere
Virgil had enjoyed until a car had gone by and he had permanently attached himself to Thomas pant leg
Joan 900% calls Thomas a crazy cat lady
They also give all the cats catnip
Virgil and Patton switch off sleeping on Thomasâ chest
All cats were rescue- well besides Remus he just kind of appeared
Remus goes out and brings back birds and things
Remus also sneaks out
Dee breaks things and Remus gets blamed
Roman is an avid fan of sunbathing
Virgil is the opposite
Logan finds the laptop to be very comfortable
Thomas takes many videos of his babies and posts them
Itâs okay if Virgil vanishes for days at a time cuz his food is still eaten so heâs okay
Each cat is semi picky about food
There is nothing better to Thomas than coming home from a bad day and six cats emerge to surround and love him
This is the third part of 23.-Witchcraft and 29.-Black Cat
Virgil heard the door of the house opening violently, he flinched and almost dropped the potion he was making âVirgil!â Shouted the witch that just entered to his house.
âIn the workshop!â He shouted back.
Logan stood up and walked to the other end of the bottle he was on, after the incident with Dee, Virgil changed the bottle to a plastic one and left him in a high shelf, a guy entered to Virgilâs workshop âDid you really made it?! Where is him?!â
âGood afternoon my lovely boyfriend I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner to see youâ said Virgil in a sarcastic tone.
The other witch blushed âI'm sorryâ he hugged Virgil from behind and kissed his cheek âI'm just exitedâ
Virgil giggled âDon't you mean, I Roman Prince have to see if it's true because no other witch can be more powerful than me?â Said Virgil, imitating his boyfriend's voice.
Roman made some offended princey noises âyou know I'm happy for you, this is a really big accomplishmentâ
âI know, Iâm just teasing you, heâs in the shelfâ said Virgil, pointing at Logan.
Roman looked at where the other witch pointed, he got closer and Logan backed away until he touched the other end of the container, Roman picked up the bottle and hold it close to his face âwow, Virgil this is really impressiveâ
Logan looked at Virgilâs boyfriend, he was taller than him, his hair was shorter and his skin was darker then as well as his hair.
âBe careful, youâre going to scare him, the poor guy has gone through a lot alreadyâ said Virgil getting closer to them.
Roman smiled âYeah, I bet getting shrunk by a witch is not something usual between humansâ
Virgil rolled his eyes âthat and he was being chased by Deeâ
âDee what?! Oh, maybe I shouldnât have brought Patton, having two cats in the house could be a lot after thatâ
The human gulped, there was another cat, he looked down and saw who he supposed was Patton, it was a fluffy white cat and unlike Dee, it looked like the typical of cat you could cuddle with, but of course, Logan didnât have a great experience with cats.
âOh, I didnât see himâ Virgil kneeled âhey buddyâ he said petting Patton âbut heâs a good boy, heâll never do anything to Logan, unlike someone elseâ the witch sent a glare to his cat, who was cleaning himself on the other side of the room.
Patton leaned on the touch and purred, he looked up at the human and lied on the floor, trying to appear less threatening.
Logan got distracted with the catâs actions and didnât notice the container being tilted until he fell in Romanâs hand, Virgil watched and stood up âI told you to be carefulâ
âI am being careful, I just want to get a closer look at himâ Roman raised his hand closer to his face âItâs just so cool seeing something so familiar as a human in this scaleâ
Logan backed away from the giant face, still not used to it âI-I donât want to bother you, but Iâm not really comfortable with being held...â said Logan.
Roman got the human away from his face âIâm sorryâ he said looking around âuh... where do you want me to leave you?â
âYou can put him in the desk, weâre here Dee wonât try anything, if youâre okay with itâ he said turning to the human.
âAs long as you donât leave me alone with him...â
âOf courseâ Roman walked to the desk and lowered his hand for Logan to jump off.
Patton jumped to the table once the human was on it, sitting with safe distance between them, Logan looked at him and backed away a few steps.
Roman noticed the human's nervousness âDon't worry, Patton's harmless, he doesn't even captures the mice on my house, I doubt he'll do anything to youâ the witch made a sign with his hand and Patton walked to him, purring once he was pet by his owner âSee, he's well behaved and perfectly trainedâ
âDee doesn't give a shit about anyone except him, he's a brat and I'm stuck with himâ said Virgil.
Logan looked at the white cat, he did looked nicer than Dee, but he wasn't going to take the risk that easily âI'll be fine as long as you're here with themâ
âCome on, you need to take a leap of faith, you can get surprisedâ said Roman.
Logan raised an eyebrow âIâm not sure thatÂŽs a good idea, any kind of leap would be mortal to me at this sizeâ
Virgil huffed trying not to laugh âA figurative leap, what Roman meant is that you should try and trust Pattonâ
The human looked at the white cat âI-Iâll think about itâŠâ
Before any of the witches could answer both cats looked at the door, moving their ears alarmed âwitch huntersâ said Dee growling.
âOh shitâ Virgil walked to his magic materials, searching between them âWe need to protect the houseâ
âI'll help youâ said Roman, he summoned a wand and with it a spell book.
Virgil looked at his boyfriend âYou should go back and protect your own house, I'll be fineâ
âNo, my house is closer to the human town, they already went there if they close, I'll help you and then I'll go to my houseâ Roman got out of the room ,Virgil followed him, still trying to convince him to go to his house.
And without noticing, both witches had left Logan alone in a room with two cats and no way to protect or defend himself, Dee stood up and jumped to the table, on the opposite side from here Patton was.
âWell, well, well, they forgot about you little mouseâ he said, getting closer to Logan âWe can have some more fun togetherâ
Logan covered himself with his arms, waiting for Dee to jump and get him, but it never happened, he opened his eyes, just to find himself under a ball of white fur âI think you already caused enough damage to the humanâ it was Patton, Patton was protecting him.
The black cat purred angrily âCome on Patton, can you stop being soft and have fun for once?â
âTorturing a human is not really what I call funâ Patton sat, Leaving Logan between his paws âAnd as long as Iâm here, you wonât get your claws on him any time soon Deeâ
âFine, IÂŽll find another thing to keep myself entertained in the meantime, but when you and Roman get out of here, that human will be mineâ Dee got off the table and out of the room annoyed.
Logan got out a sigh of relief âthank you Pattonâ he said looking up at the cat.
Patton looked down at him âItÂŽs nothing, I was just doing the right thingâ
Logan smiled, and after all, he as reconsidering taking this figurative leap.

CatScratchÂ
Sanders Sides: Roman, Virgil, Patton Fic Type: Mystery/Crime!AU Blurb: Virgilâs learned to expect a lot of things helping the police solve murders, but he never thought that theyâd actually find something that could crack his own unsolved case. Warnings: Death (Mentioned), Murders (mentioned), Blood, Injuries, Needles/Shots
The screeching of rusty hinges grated on Virgilâs ears sending a pulse of agony through his head. Growling under his breath, he tugged his hood further down over his eyes. This is why he hated old office buildings they made way too much noise.
âSorry.â Prince apologized, holding the door open for him. âI honestly didnât know it would do that.â
âSâfineâ He muttered, hunching his shoulders. Itâs not like Roman Prince had to remember on a daily basis that he wasnâtâŠnormal.
âItâs not. Your ears okay?â
Virgil shot him a look, fighting to keep said ears from laying back flat against his head. âWhat do you think?â
Mr. Investigative Detective at least at the decency to look apologetic as he stepped to the side, holding the metal door open wide. âI promise this will be quick and afterwards Iâll get you a nice glass of milkââ
âGatorade, geez man Iâm not six.â Seriously. What was it with people and thinking he liked milk? Just because he had some characteristics of a cat didnât meanâ
ââŠ.Gatorade, Sunshine?â
Virgil briefly closed his eyes, fighting to keep his tail from twitching out into the open as he slipped inside the back of the dilapidated building. âDude, Iâm twenty. I canât drink.â
âIâm aware, but Gatorade? Not Coffee? Tea? Even some Pepsiââ
âIâm also notâ Virgil whirled, going on tiptoe to flash his fangs in the detectiveâs face. âCompletely human. Remember?â He couldnât just go drinking whatever liquid he felt like anymore.
Roman didnât even flinch, raising his hands in a pacifying gesture. âHow could I forget, Surly Temple? Iâll get you the Gatorade.âÂ
âGreat.â Heâd see if Princey remembered at the end of the night. From his past track record, Virgil wasnât hopeful. âNowââ He turned, following the stank odor of officer sweat up the stairs.
At least it wasnât the basement. He hunched his shoulders, ears tilting forward to guide him towards the voices he could hear above. Basements always smelt so rank when he had to deal with both damp, mold and rotting flesh.
He wrinkled his nose. âWhat is so special about this victim, Princey, that you felt the need to pull me out of my nice quietââ
âItâs not to play sniffer dog if thatâs what youâre thinking.â Roman interrupted, joining him on the stairs. âItâs just that he wonât let us get close to him.â
Perfect. He hated playing sniffer dogâWait. âThe victim is alive?â He asked incredulously. That was a first.
Princey nodded, giving him a proud smirk, leading him through the door on the third floor and down the hallway to glass doors that labeled the place as a Health Clinic. âRight? Itâs different from our usual cases. I thought youâd like the variety.â
Virgil rolled his eyes, tail twitching against his leg. âThought Iâd likeâyou do remember I donât like people right?â
Roman huffed. âYou do too if you choose to, Stormy Raincloud. I mean you talk to me.â
âBecause I have to.â
âAnd from what I could see of our vic. I thought youâd be able to you know, bond. Get closer to him.â
Virgil crossed his arms, his hair on his back bristling as he narrowed his eyes. âMe? Get closerâyou mean he wonât talk to you guys?â He asked, jerking his head to the window where he could see a handful of uniforms milling in the receptionist area, many of them coming and going through the swinging door next to the desk with evidence bags in hand.
Roman shook his head. âHeâs quite agitatedââ He said pulling open the door, gesturing for Virgil to go first.
âAnd you think Iâm your best option to calm him down?â
âYes.â
Virgil threw up his hands. âYouâre crazy.â
âNo, Iâm justââ
A loud panicked yowl sounded from the back of the clinic. âGET AWAY!â
Virgilâs heart jumped in his throat as he turned to the noise. He knew that sound. Only heâdâŠheâd never heard anyone else but himself make it.
I thought youâd be able to bond.
No way. There was no way. Virgil broke into a run, nimbly dodging past the frozen officers and into the back, only vaguely hearing Princey order everyone to clear the floor and wait in the lobby below.
It was like deja vu all over again. It was a different building, but he knew the awful rusty red color scheme, knew the awful carpet, the awful cologne that that monster had worn that stunk up the place.
Virgil stopped in front of the only patient door in the back that remained firmly shut, his ears perking as he caught the sound of panicked breathing within. He laid a hand on the door, biting his lip as he struggled to catch his own breath.
Two years. Two years and there might actually be a crack in his case. A chance to find the monster whoâd done this to him. A chance toâ
âHe wonât let us get close.â Roman said from behind. âI tried to enter and he threw a metal pan at my face.â
Virgil jumped, biting back a curse. Not surprising, heâd wanted to throw something at the detective a time or two himself. âYou saw something.â He whispered, glancing to him.
âBesides this being a similar setup to the other clinics weâve found?â
Other clinics where thereâd been mangled bodies that barely looked human. Virgil raised an eyebrow, hand tightening on the door knob.
Roman nodded, fidgeting in place. âAâŠa tail I think. So I thoughtâŠNot that you have oneââ Roman glanced not so subtly at his legs.
If he could continue to keep the detective from seeing his tail it would be a miracle. It was bad enough he knew about the earsâŠand the claws.
âBut he sounded like you with all the growling so Iââ
âYou do realize if heâs likeâŠa werewolf, this wonât end well right?â Virgil muttered, turning his attention to back to the noises he could hear within. Could this guy hear them too? âWe donât know if itâs justâŠcats.â If the dude was part canine then theyâd be in trouble. Cats and Dogs didnât mix well.
âThat didnât sound like a howl, Virgil.â
âI know.â He snapped. âIt justâŠâ He gestured to the door. âYou thinkââ
He hated how Romanâs eyes softened. âIf heâs like you, Virge, then we may have a new lead for your case.â
That would be something wouldnât it? Virgil took a breath. IfâŠif he was like himâŠthen he wouldnât be the only one. He wouldnât feel like such a freak. They could be one step closer to catching the so-called Doctor that had done this to him.
âStay here.â He said, pushing open the door and slipping inside, leaving it open a crack just in case things went sour and Princey needed to save the day. Â
The whistling of an object flying through the air was his only warning. Virgil ducked, crouching down on all fours as a clipboard smashed into the door and fell to the tile at his feet with a loud clatter. Â
âNO. STAY AWAY!â The terrified voice yowled from behind the exam table. âGO!â
âVirge!â Roman called, hand on the door.
Virgil made a negating gesture, shushing Princey. âIâm fine.â He said in a low tone. âStay.â The last thing he needed was the detective coming in and scaring the guy further.
Roman made a face through the crack as he took a step backwards. âBe careful.â
Wasnât he always? Virgil glanced down at the clipboard, noting the papers still attached and the name Patton Hart scrawled across the top in a very familiar script.
An irritated growl rumbled in his chest. So close to catching the Doctor and theyâd once again missed him. âMaybe try saying pleaseâŠPatton?â Virgil asked, edging on all fours away from the door so he could see the victim. He lifted his head to briefly meet the glowing golden eyes of the shadowy figure huddled in the corner that were so similar to his own. âIt is Patton right?â
The figureâPattonâhissed. Â âPlease. Get. Away.â
Virgil tilted his head, staying crouched as his eyes adjusted to dim room. âNo.â Not when he could see the pale cat shaped ears twitching on the manâs head, the marks on the walls from the bloody claws coming from the manâs fingers, the fluffy tail curled protectively around himself.
Hope rose like a burning sun in his chest. Not alone.
âPLEASE.â
Virgil lifted a hand, hesitating on his hood. âYouâre not going to hurt me, Patâ He said keeping his voice low. âAnd I wonât hurt you, okay? My name is Virgil and weâreâŠweâre a lot alike.â
Near hysterical laughter came from the corner. âA-alike? We-we-weâre not alikââ
The man cut off as Virgil lowered his hood, revealing his own dark cat ears. The golden eyes widened, watching as his ears swiveled about, listening to ensure there was no one else nearby.
He could only hear Princey breathing far too loudly on the other side of the door. At least the detective was listening to him and staying put.
âYouâreââ Patton whispered, his pale tail lifting in a question mark.
Virgil gave a shaky smile, glancing one more time to the door to make sure Roman wasnât visible before cautiously allowing his own black tail to slip out into view, curling it around himself. âAllergy shots right?â He said, cautiously moving closer as the man sat up, cracked glasses glinting in the faint light as they fell to the floor. Hopefully Pat wouldnât still need those. The cat ears wouldnât be able to keep them in place with how much they moved. âNeeded to be given twice weekly for six months?â Heâd only made it to the fourth month beforeâŠ.before the change.
Heâd barely slept the three weeks after the change, wondering what would have happened to him had he made it through the entire six month dosage. Would he have changed fully into a cat after that final dose had been given? It was something he still had nightmares about.
A small whimper escaped from Patton as he nodded. âYes. I thoughtâyouâre-youâre telling meâIâm not the onlyââ He suddenly surged forward, grabbing Virgil in a surprise hug, sobbing, flinching with each movement of his tail as it curled around them as he pressed his face into Virgilâs chest. âIâm not alone?â He mumbled.
âN-no.â Virgil managed, his ears twitching violently as he fought to keep his heart in his chest. He hadnât expected the man to be so quick to trust himâŠor touch him. âIâmâŠhere.â   Awkwardly he hugged him back. âYouâre going to be alright. ItâsâŠthe worst of itâs over.â
Pattonâs ears moved, tickling Virgilâs chin as he clung all the tighter to him, breath hitching. âIâI thought I wasâI was going to die.â
Virgil flinched, the memory of his own painful change coming back full force. Death probably would have been more gentle than feeling like he was being turned inside out and boiled alive in lava. âMe too.â He managed to whisper.
Patton lifted his head, brilliant gold eyes far too close to Virgilâs own as he gripped his jacket, ears laying back. âDo you knoâCan you tell me who did this to youâto meâus?â He demanded with quiet desperation, his tail thrashing behind him. âTell me you caught her. That she didnât get away.â Â
Her? Virgil froze, his breath catching in his throat making it difficult to breathe. That couldnât be right. âIâmy d-d-doctorâŠâ He stammered out, unable to look away. âIntroduced himself as Dr. Friedrich Sticker. Had a heavy German accent?â
âHim?â The tail went limp as Patton slumped back, running a hand through his hair. He made a face as his fingers found one of his ears, quickly dropping his hand. âIâI thought she was male at first, but she saidââ Patton hunched his shoulders, pale ears flicking back and forth. âShe was here to help âŠshe wasâŠâ He shuddered. âHer hands were always so cold.â Â
Cold hands? Virgil perked up at that. Could they actually be the same person? If Sticker had switched not only his identity, but gender as wellâ no wonder all their leads had dried up! The police had been only searching for males that matched his description of the doctor. âThe hands.â He said, shifting closer, his tail curling around to brush Patâs. âWas she missing a finger on one?â
ââŠ.Yes.â He whispered, breath hitching as his tail entwined around Virgilâs. âThe pinky on her right hand.â
His heart jumped into his throat. What were the odds? The odds of a man and a woman both being doctors, giving allergy shots, and missing a finger?
Very. Very slim.
We got you Sticker. âMine too.â
Pattonâs ears twitched as he met cautiously met Virgilâs eyes. âDid you catch herâthem then?â He asked.
Virgil hated that he had to say no. âNo.â Roman would have mentioned that first thing if they had. But while Sticker had always left evidence behind that heâthey were involved in cases like thisâŠthe police could never find them, not until the next victim appeared.
The hope in Patâs face vanished. âOh.â He said, pulling his knees up to his chin, raising one hand to feel his ear. âSo what now? Are theyââ He shuddered, leaning against Virgil. âIs the Doctor going to come back? To finishâŠ..this?â
No, once the-â Virgil grimaced. âOnce the change starts, Sticker abandons their patients.â To die. He remembered. Had watched the doctor walk out without looking back as Virgil had fallen screaming and writhing to the floor after that last âallergyâ shot had been given. It had to be the same for the others theyâd found though he didnât know for sure. Virgil had been the only one to survive. Until now.
âThey do? Whyâshouldnât a doctor want to see the end result of theirââ Patton shuddered, dropping his hand from his ears. âWhy would they try to turn meâus into a cat instead of curing us of our allergies to them? Whyâleave?â
If only he he knew. Virgil exhaled, his tail twisting with Pattonâs. âWellâŠthe good news is, if youâre like me. Youâre no longer going to be allergic to cats.â So in a sense, Sticker had accomplished their goal of curing them.
Which was a major plus. He couldnât imagine having to deal with being part cat and allergic to himself.
Pattonâs lifted his head to meet Virgilâs eyes, his hand dropping to their entwined tails. âThatâsâŠthat will be nice.â He said, glancing down, a soft, genuine smile playing on his lips as he ran his hand through their fur. âI love cats.â
Virgil shivered, his tail tensing under Pattonâs hand. Well maybe Pat would have an easier time adjusting to his new life then. The enhanced senses, the fur that got everywhere, the constantly twitching tail and earsâŠ
âYouâre sure the Doctor isnât going to come back?â Patton suddenly asked, interrupting Virgilâs thoughts. âTo finish our shots?â
Virgil nodded, reaching out to squeeze Patâs hand, offering him a confident smile. âIâm sure. Sticker never came back to find me. They wonât come back for you either.â Heâd make sure of that. Patton would be safe. âFor us- for you, Pat, itâs over. Theyâre not going to hurt you again. I promise.âÂ
