Skipping backwards a little bit to Hieron, here's a little fic about Fero and Samol during the first part of Spring that involves a little kissing, Making Something New.

3. Who is the most romantic?

Neither of them are really 'romantic' in the conventional sense, but I think AuDy might skew closer completely unintentionally... Neither are fans of Big Dramatic Gestures though.

12. What first changes when it starts getting serious?

AuDy hangs out at the med bay a lot, considering that it's a med bay for organics. On their end, Cass starts hanging out more on the bridge of the Kingdom Come.

18. When they fight, how do they make up?

I don't think Cass addresses the argument directly when making up (unless it got bad enough to seriously mess with group dynamics, which is very rare between them imo), and they procure some material or information that AuDy is interested in to make amends/indicate they want to make up. AuDy, on the other hand, has been known to bluntly open with their fight, the desire to make up, and offer to do stuff like help organize Cass's medical equipment, or go over the upcoming mission with Cass, or do their hair etc.

27. Why do their friends get annoyed with them?

Aria thinks they could stand to be more romantic with each other:

"Wait, isn't today—oof—your anniversary?"

"I suppose so, yes."

"... Sooo instead of spending a nice quiet day together, you lined up a job for us and now we're all getting shot at by some rouge corp asshole instead. Cass, is this your idea of a date?!"

"... Look, we all know we need to cause a distraction here so Mako can slip in to get at their servers before the data is wiped—"

"Also, according to the texts you like to consult so much, this is the perfect date activity."

"AuDy! Buddy, what the hell?"

“How many pursuers coming from your end, AuDy?”

"Less than expected.” 

“Fuck. Okay, new plan. Let me hurry Mako up and run some interference to draw their attention. Extraction point by the 2nd emergency all good?”

“Yes, nobody should bother us there.“

”Good job. You two prep the Kingdom Come for take off, Mako and I will be coming in hot. We’ll meet there in 5.”

“Got it!“

“Alright.”

“See you soon.”

“... Aaand there they go. Do you wish you’re going with them instead?”

“No. I have my task, and Cass has theirs. Let’s get to the extraction point.”

“Geez, you guys...”

They've been in worse situations, Cass tells themself. Assassination attempts aren't new. Bombs are practically as old as time. Buildings have collapsed for almost as long as people have been erecting them.

Unfortunately, while each component of the situation is hardly novel, Cass has to grudgingly admit that they've never dealt with this exact confluence of events before. What a shit time for an assassination attempt when they're on the cusp of having to confront Riguor.

Like, they have links +3, and Cass trusts AuDy even though they're two Divines stuffed in a trenchcoat, and they have an inner AuDy voice, and they'd throw down in defense of AuDy's personhood. But I think there will always be a part of Cass that can't quite make that leap. They could be together for years and even acknowledge that what they have runs deeper than just friendship. They can say that they trust each other and that the other person is deeply important to them.

But Cass will always hold back, unsure if the L-word would tear down what they've built somehow. And AuDy, the idiot, would be convinced that as a machine intelligence, they are incapable of using the L-word, despite the fact that to love is a verb rather than just a feeling, and they both love each other in all the weird and tense ways that they trust and care about each other's well-being.

It's impossible to avoid going to the hospital after their latest job. Even if Cass wasn't certain they'd broken their arm (which imaging proved them right), Mako had definitely suffered a concussion, and Aria needed stitches on her scalp. Sure, Cass could have maybe managed the stitches themself, but head trauma is no joke.

AuDy, for their part, suffered nothing more than some minor scuffs on their chassis, and they wait for Aria, Mako, and Cass to be discharged from the ER with a patience that Cass does not share. Eidolons, they hate the hospital experience in general and the emergency care experience in particular.

Remember that time I wrote 45,000 words about Cass and AuDy in a post-canon quasi-fix-it fic where they realize they love each other but are too emotionally constipated to admit it?
