two days spent contemplating bee balm….

#my botanicals #my mediocre watercolors #also: two days sitting in the stream until a storm rolled in #bee balm #still not quite right but i don’t think i’m willing to pick another one #the bee balm population exploded this year though it’s all over the place and very pretty

left work early to go paint in the stream (too hot to be dry) and i was worried about how low the water had gotten this week in the heat wave when a storm hit!!

the water won’t stay this high for long but as long as it doesn’t go back to how it was when i got there i’ll be happy! this only took about 20 minutes of hard rain <3

#i DID stay out in the storm until it was over but i DIDNT sit in the stream the whole time #figured my poncho was pointless because i was already soaked #but forgot the value of a dry head and most importantly dry glasses #stayed out at least partially because i was blinded lol #but this was good #nice afternoon #and hopefully it’ll keep storming and folks won’t set off fireworks all night

played around with camera settings while watching a storm pass us by tonight and got some neat ones :)

#wish i could remember which shutter speed i was using for the one decent one #but i love clouds so any time their shapes are revealed i treasure the experience #so i'm excited to play again the next time we get a flasher...... also: a good excuse to be outside in a storm #photography .... maybe this is what fishing or hunting is like (a good excuse to be outside when people would usually hate being outside)#can't tell you how excited i was to realize the flashing on the horizon wasn't more fireworks #figured out a cheat for dogs in fireworks though:#play a video of fireworks nonstop #ours got tired of barking very quick #and eventually didn't react to real ones #which is good because tomorrow night will probably be worse

we taught clover to drink from the hose yesterday - here's two pictures i took of the first time my daughter drank from a hose

#i found my old camera and forgot what good pictures look like so i'm having fun #this isn't what good pictures look like for the record #i'm just warning that i might have some photos every now and again #because idk if or when i'll ever finish any artwork ever again #but i am alive #and spending a lot of time outside so that's good #i hope you all are doing well
