Caspian Tern
One of my favorite birds—the Caspian Tern. So much more elegant than any gull. Here’s some information from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology site...
As large as a big gull, the Caspian Tern is the largest tern in the world. Its large coral red bill makes it one of the most easily identified terns throughout its worldwide range. The Caspian Tern aggressively defends its breeding colony. It will pursue, attack, and chase potential predatory birds, and can cause bloody wounds on the heads of people who invade the colony. The entire colony will take flight, however, when a Bald Eagle flies overhead, exposing the chicks to predation from gulls. (source)

Big wing Caspian tern Proud Mary keep on burnin' (I never knew what Tina meant by that. Maybe a religious reference?) Anyway, you know, every now and then I think you might like to hear something about birds. Flight and breezy . Too hot for many more words on bird. 113 yesterday and I have no AC. I actually was gonna just buy one yesterday but everywhere is sold out. Ironically, the project I'm currently working on is about health impacts if climate change and the extent to which climate change and it's health impacts push people to migrate. . I think I generally cope well with heat, but working from home with no AC has been rough and I have definitely felt the psychological impacts including diminished cognitive abilities. The data I'm working with is already challenging and pushing me to use statistical methods I'm not familiar with, things aren't working and yesterday I suddenly realized I'd been sitting at my computer for 4 hours and had actually not accomplished anything. I couldn't even really recall what I'd tried to do. . Anyway, I'm drinking plenty of water and having some salty peanuts, so I won't die but this heat in combination with my languishing covid lifestyle is hitting different.
