The Caribear

First project of my independent study is finished! I was to make a creature and digitally paint it in its natural habitat. I took the anatomy of a caribou and grizzly bear and created this big boy for that purpose.

Some say he’s a vicious beast ready to kill, which is absolutely ridiculous. It’s OBVIOUS he just wants a hug!

I think I may have taken my cupcake testing duties a bit too seriously this week.

The shirt gave me a little reminder this morning, and I won't pretend I didn't feel embarrassed. I did. I fussed with it, turned sideways, adjusted my glasses, and held a very serious mirror meeting with myself.

But I baked those cupcakes with care. I shared them with people I love. I enjoyed them too. My body was with me for all of that.

That doesn't make me less Caribear. It means I had a full week at the bakery, and I'm still allowed to walk out soft, wobbly, and happy.

I was taking Bubby to Lullaberry for her first visit, and I may have been fussing about the schedule more than I meant to.

I wanted the surprise to feel perfect, and (easily distracted) Bubby kept stopping at every chance. Flowers first, then a tiny bug, then the sky. She wasn't ignoring where we were going. She was already noticing the little parts that might make Lullaberry feel like home.

I'm still learning how to walk at that speed.

Um, I made a care kit.

It is mostly things I like keeping nearby when the day needs a little extra troubleshooting. Water, tea, headphones, my feelings journal, the warm pad, the cooling patches, my cozy blanket, blueberries, and the daily routine things that help me stay a bit more calibrated.

The massage putty is for my paws, because sometimes it helps to have something soft to work with while I’m thinking. The meditation app is nice too. I like when there is a calm voice telling me what to do next, because otherwise I may open seventeen tabs in my brain and forget where the first one went.

Also, I keep a daily comfort candy on standby, because small sweet things can make all the difference.

I know everyone’s care kit would look different. This one is mine.
