the closest equivalent carapacians have for gender is their marriage roles which are determined by personality. its basically just about compatibility. cept its not? someone can be forced to play a role esp if its an arranged marriage. for a good example of the roles look at problem sleuth. theyre not married btw theyre just like that

My redesigns for the Mane 6!
I had so much fun with this, and I'm so excited to tell their stories! I'll write more in-depth profiles later, but here's some short points about them:

Carapacians have four layers to communication with others: Words, Rank-pronouns, Pheromones and Facial expressions.
Droog is both basically expressionless and smokes enough to disrupt someones understanding of his pheromones, so he appears entirely monotone to them.
my roster of carapacian languages (etc.) is ever-expanding and getting more complicated by the minute. i've now cornered 'hand-speak' (a sort of tactile hand language) into it being specifically a dersite language. possibly a constructed one! and while spoken dersite and prospitian are mutually intelligible, their WRITTEN forms are Entirely different. Prospit may or may not have more than one writing system. fun!
im basing a lot of the carapacian crops off of new world crops because not only does that include pumpkins i also just think that gourds and corn and sweet potatoes and such are very like. wv-core. autism be damned my boy can work a farm. also im throwing in what is basically just a fiddlehead fern because it looks cool as shit!!!!!!! oh a few cultivars of brassica oleracea. dont worry about all the others i just think they should have cabbages and kale. And also none of their crops are one to one exactly these idk

Got any Carapacian biology HCs?
Hi... i've been putting off making a carapacian biology post but i gotta make it SOMEDAY so might as well be today.
they have, in addition to the carapace, a rudimentary internal support structure (a partial skeleton). NOTE: they dont have solid bones (slash their equivalent) in their limbs.
prospitians have black teeth! it's because they're more visible. it's like a warning coloration.
no nostrils, they breathe through basically invisible spiracles (or their mouth) and smell through little also near-invisible pits on their face.
baby carapacians have four arms! they have a temporary pair under the permanent ones that they use to hold on to their parent. they fall off once they learn how to walk on their own, and leave little scars that disappear after a couple molts.
they molt! little babies (and they very much are little) molt a whole lot but full-grown adults molt from half a year to every two years. it's a little inconsistent, and their health also affects it.
they can survive without food or water for up to a year and a half, but they'll get very weak. this is how exiles survive in wastelands!
They have an innate sense of distance. This is partially why carapacian architecture is so labyrinthine.

wv's farm on the battlefield isn't actually exclusively his, he co-manages it with a few other deserters/convicts. hes one of the older people there. at least a few of them join him in his revolt once that happens
