I have an unrelated Kid x birdie modern AU scenario here, in case you are interested, but I'll write something specific for this too.
In an Oda-accurate modern AU, where Kid is a weapon merchant, birdie would probably be an olympic shooter. Considering Kid would be Scottish and birdie likely Greek, I think they would meet in Scotland, when she's there for some sort of competition, and she walks into his shop to survey the local weaponry.
I like to think that Kid and birdie have crazy physical chemistry in every universe, so the attraction will spark as soon as he shows her his merch and they start talking about rifles and stuff.
I mean, who would blame birdie? An imposing Scottish man, with that thick accent and voice, so knowledgable about your passions? Despite her being hella demisexual, she'd be impressed. Kid will gather that she's competing and go watch the event. She'll be sooo flustered after the competition, when she sees him in the audience. He'll challenge her to a little game of their own, but much less official, shooting cans in the backyard of his shop. The sexual tension grows. That could evolve into getting drinks with his crew afterwards, starting a drinking contest at the pub, and there you have it, they'll end up in his bed, drunk and hot. You can take it from there. ♥
