        🕷 It was a vibration that the spider had come to know to well without even looking at a person. The way the lungs reverberated, the throat tensed and the body seemed to coil in upon itself. Even if one didn’t know the body was taking to those actions before the enitial act of tears. 

              Layla’s ears knew. Knew far before seeing the other curled upon himself in an attempt to hide it. He could hide his face with that hat brim all he wanted. Block the sight with his sword as a second shield, it was no use. 

             The spider said nothing just took up the space next to him. She was cold beast of a women but knew that many hard men like Law didn’t show this side of themselves. It wasn’t ‘fitting’ in this unkind world, so to know he took to tears meant something met it’s mark upon his heart.

It was never a dull moment when he brought in a new member of his family. Be they standard recruits done the way other crews did with signing on at the docks, or the stubborn type that would join him no matter what like Oden had been. Then there were those like Ace that spend weeks trying to take his head before finally excepting his invitation into his family.

       🕷She pulled her hood a little lower but it never seemed to be enough to block out her face. Sure it was probably working just fine but the amount of eyes seemed to never decrease. Perhaps due to the hood itself. Still, taking to her drink the female pirate did her best to ignore someone that was chatting at her to her right. 

          Though that yapping was ruining her drink. Normal bar chatter was one thing but this....this had to stop. Thrusting out her arms her palm made contact with the others face before pushing him right off his barstool. Once on the floor Layla dumped his drink on him before dropping the glass. Hearing the nearby stool move she turned sharp green hues to the noise. 

Whitebeard himself had sustained some injuries fighting Shanks. The other Yonko had bared his way to Wano where Lex and Law had clashed with Kaido. As a result, the old pirate hadn’t made it in time to save his brother, that hadn’t meant that all was lost. Law and the other Hearts were still alive when he arrived but they weren’t in any fighting shape. 

Ed extracted his family and fell back to a safer spot before finding out what had happened. As a Captain and a Yonko, Whitebeard had to handle things with a clear and logical head. It didn’t mean he didn’t care, but getting emotional at a moment like that would only bring more harm than good. 

It wasn’t until the funeral held that he let his own emotions show. holding Law and the other hearts close to him as he too shed tears of sadness at the loss. Lex was a part of his family, and while Law and the others were alife and he was grateful for that, he cursed his aging body for not giving him the strength to blow past Shanks and get to Lex before Kaido claimed his life.
