i remember seeing theories being tossed around about the girl in the boat from early episodes somehow being related to Cocona. and well. TA-DAH. SHE IS!!

there was so much about this episode that i ADORED and that also broke my heart

Yayaka was gonna fucking confess but i think instead of an ‘i love you’. she was about to tell Cocona about her involvement with that other Organization. LOOK ME IN THE EYE and tell me Yayaka is a bad friend to Cocona, i fucking dare you

there was a lot of this episode that gave me NGE vibes? the amorphous twins were ‘created’, their coloring/albinism is like Kaworu’s, the red warning screens when the Organization invaded the Base, Cocona’s red lights, Salt’s stupid hair and glasses that remind me of Gendo...

the somewhat cliche ‘you only like me because of Mimi!’ fight btwn Cocona and Papika in the tunnel. i saw it coming from a mile away last episode but it was still poignant and Cocona was very obviously upset about it AND I HOPE IT GETS RESOLVED WITH TEARS AND HUGS

most importantly: BABY SALT

DOCTOR SALT AS A SMALL CHILD. THE CUTEST. I’M ADOPTING. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE TIME BETWEEN THEN AND NOW TO MAKE HIM SO....salty..../shot

this means that Salt is the one who taught Papika to make clover crowns, ouch my heartttt

i’ve seen some posts that were talking about how Mimi and Papika obviously didn’t end up together, and that’s somehow ‘bad’? we don’t know the details of the timeskip (if ep11 is a flashback episode hopefully it’ll get explained a little more), so.... additionally, the ‘age gap’ between Papika and Cocona...Papika was clearly in some sort of stasis and hasn’t aged at all, mentally/physically/whatever, so she’s still a child; until we get more information let’s reserve judgement. like idk you can’t automatically condemn their relationship based on the information we have on hand. 

that being said, someone else (awwishfulthinking; spoilers) pointed out that Cocona has her mother’s looks and her father’s eyes and i about DIED (again) because SHE DOOOES!! if Salt is Cocona’s father (and like...honestly...that’s where i’m putting my money).....why did he leave her with robot grandma instead of taking care of her? wtf dude that’s not cool. also, kid!Salt looks like Tsumugu from NagiAsu so i’ve been shot through the heart, etc

i still want to know if grandma was ever Cocona’s actual grandma, or did she get replaced by the robot at some point. i want to know how Hidaka and intern girl whose name i don’t remember got involved with Flip Flap. intern girl looks like she could be related to Cocona as well but so far we haven’t seen much of her.
