The Tale of the Two Lokis
It took many years and assistance across the non-Christian pantheons and traditions, but the gods that had been murdered by Lucifer during the fiasco of an emergency meeting between the deities, had finally been reborn.
Including Mercury, who will be spending the next several millennia receiving his punishment for telling and inviting Lucifer to the Judeo-Christian Apocalypse Discussion that led to the massacre at the Elysian Fields Hotel.
This much interaction between the various deities was unprecedented and the unity shown in between them deserved to be celebrated.
So once a year, a masquerade was held to rejoice in the rebirth of the fallen gods and the cancelled apocalypse as well as commemorate the coming together of the different faiths.
To ensure a continued unity, there were only a few rules for the party:
You could not come as your true form and you cannot tell anyone who you really are.
No slaughtering each other.
Leave the local virgins alone.
The first two rules ensured that if someone offended another, or conflict arose, no one knew which pantheon to attack after the party. There would be no prejudice.
The last rule was to help keep a low profile to prevent catching the attention of angels or local hunters, the ballroom was extravagant with flowers and gold accented decor on the floor to ceiling marble.
Gabrielle sipped her wine as she quietly people-watched from the refreshments table, trying to guess who was which god based on their mannerisms. She smirked as she watched a couple quietly argued in the corner after the woman caught her male companion flirting with another woman.
“Could be Zeus….” She murmured to herself.
