Finally, after a week or so of having it in my wallet I remembered to give my brother the commemorative $10 bill that I had gotten and saved for him. I know that sometimes he likes to collect unique coins or currencies so when I came across one of the bills made for Canada’s 150th anniversary I thought he might want/appreciate one. He ended up trading me an everyday $10 bill for the commemorative one (that’s just the type of person he is), although I never expected him to, I had gotten him the bill sincerely out of thinking of him, but I still appreciate the trade, and I know he appreciated the thought. Today’s random act of kindness: picking something up without asking anything in return.

A little bit belated, but today my family and I celebrated Canada Day. We were invited over to my nieces’ for a BBQ and fireworks for the evening. Given that their dad works in a tourist area he had to work on the actual holiday so today they did their festivities and invited the family over. Normally, we don’t get to see this part of the family too much so it was nice to go over, relax, eat some amazing food, and celebrate Canada! Along with a delicious spread from maple leaf shaped burgers to nanaimo bars there was a great backyard fireworks display to finish the night. :)

The other day I learned that if you contact the office of your local federal member of parliament you can receive a variety of Canada memorabilia to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada. Wanting to show my Canadian pride I decided to make a visit to my MP’s office and inquire. My family now has a giant Canadian flag waiting to be hung off our back balcony. Not going to lie, I’m kind of super excited! Today’s random act of kindness: representing your Canadian pride/sharing the knowledge.

For anyone else who may be interested in showing their Canadian pride, or is wanting to take part in the anniversary festivities in general I urge you to either call or take a trip to your local MP’s office. There are a variety size options for flags, as well as mini national flags and the anniversary emblem flags on sticks, Canada pins, and general information on celebration events going on in your local community.
