I think it's very interesting that they chose to focus on the protea flower!

What makes this flower really special, is that it is a delicate and beautiful flower (the inside consists of hundreds of mini flowers that are surrounded by the harder, colourful petals/leafs) but it can also survive under harsh circumstances. It has some similar qualities to succulents, like durability in periods of drought. They naturally grow in the the fynbos biome (literally translating to fine/delicate plants/bushes biome). Although they are usually used for decorative purposes and celebrations, I think it carries a specific message that is not only true to my nation, but in this case, of Lovro (and Vito) characters too: honour, resilience and strength, despite unfavorable circumstances.
