#camping fics

Since the current heatwave in Europe is driving me mad, I've been craving stormy, rainy, outdoorsy Johnlock stories. There are a few of my all-time favourites that come to mind immediately, such as ArwaMachine's To Stand Before the Storm, khorazir's Danger Nights, J_Baillier's Summit Fever or You Have Drawn Red From My Hands (to name just two, there are more, I could sing her praises forever) ... and I know I have read more fics that fit the category I'm looking for here, although I can't recall the titles right now, and I wouldn't mind reading them again. I would love to discover more, so if there are lists or fics you could point me towards, that would be great!

Stranger Stars by shaylea / @sunshineandhisrainbows (E, 212K) This is a really unique fic that takes place on a 6-week safari through Africa. It’s incredibly detailed and the author does a lovely job with the character arcs and with setting the scene.

The Melody You Never Heard by bananasandboots (E, 30K) Great banter, great pacing, great characterizations. What more do you want? Hot smut? Got that, too!

hope you guessed my name by juliusschmidt (E, 9K) Harry is a devil, Louis is human. I don’t know what it is about this fic, but I just adore it. It’s so moving and so beautifully written and yes, I cried over Harry being a lonely cryptid.

Counting the Steps Between Us by zarah5 (E, 25K) I honestly don’t remember the details of this one and the only notes I made when I read it were, “Sweet. I love the moment when they realize”. WTF does that mean? I have no idea. But I liked it enough to bookmark it once and Zarah is honestly always a sure bet. All of her fics are great.

Have Love, Will Travel by @kingsofeverything (E, 97K) This friends (co-workers) to lovers fic was sweet and romantic. The author does a lovely job of showing their closeness and love for each other even before Harry and Louis admit it to each other.
