I met this Jane Goe at the Des Moines P.D. after her abuser spent the last week terrorizing, making death threats (against her and himself) trashed their home & then when he realized she was actually leaving for good - he went down & filed for a Civil No Contact Order (NCO) - and got it! SYSTEMIC ABUSE: when a resource that’s designed to protect a domestic violence victim, gets used to abuse or becomes a punishment for leaving. This can includes police departments, church, doctors, media or schools. It’s an even mixture of Emotional, Psychological and Financial abuse - all in one. The hardest part of this type of abuse is having the actual TRUTH heard or even known. (My personal story is a GREAT example of this). This Jane Goe is VERY lucky to have a plethora of calls to the police department over the past week & other photos/videos/text documenting the chaos. Her therapist connected her to the CKRET Foundation to advocate, educate and guide her as she navigates court for the NCO hearing next week. SHE’S BREAKING THE CYCLE - it’s scary, messy and full of unknown moments. She’s no longer alone - she joining a community or others who have left BEFORE they became a Jane Doe statistic! I’m so proud of her! Pray for her as she creates her new normal. If you find yourself or someone you love a victim of systemic abuse - reach out for help. DOCUMENT YOUR TRUTH and know you’re NOT either! #ckret #janegoe #systemicabuse #help #callchar (at CKRET Foundation) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTlbISHD7Eq/?utm_medium=tumblr
