Georgia managed all of the Veterans Day care packages that were destined for military personnel away from home. It was strongly recommended to also send letters, which Georgia took more seriously than others may have. She poured her heart out into that letter, but gave no return address, and only her first name. 

One year and a bit later, Zane, who received her letter, is tracking his author down. She has no idea what her letter did for him, how it kept him sane, even after a career-ending accident when his jet malfunctioned. He’s done his homework, and figured out who Georgia is, because she said in her letter she worked for a record label. He’s going to meet her…someday. 

It’s clear that Zane sees himself as damaged goods, especially with all the scars from his parachute not deploying in a timely manner after he ejected from his jet. People can be really rude without meaning to, and he’s convinced himself he’s not worthy of something so beautiful as Georgia. 

Funny thing is, Georgia has a completely different opinion on that. 

He doesn’t hide the fact that he’s watching her. She’s a smart woman, and she knows when someone’s been in her apartment. He’s not leaving her gifts exactly, more like fixing a leaky pipe and some off-kilter cabinet doors. Nothing frightening, nothing over the top. Just a man taking care of his woman. 

Some of the things that both characters have been through really hurt my heart. All the more reason that it’s so satisfying when these two come together, giving each other healing without forcing anything. 

This was never going to be causal.

Darby is the last single friend in her group, and she’s not happy about it. She’s happy for her friends, of course, even if one of them fell for Darby’s perfect brother. She also hates Valentine’s Day and roses, and pretty much anything associated with the holiday.

She joins her friends for a potting party at the Green with Envy flower shop, and has some spicy words with the leader of the party, Greg. And he’s also the owner of the shop. Greg isn’t bothered by Darby’s acerbic wit, as he’s the kind of person who can see past a front and find out what’s underneath. 

He’s also been working on a special hybrid rose for a year, without a single bud to show for it. 

This is definitely a story for people who maybe don’t love V Day, and who do enjoy some instalove. Darby makes her move early, and Greg makes moves right back. He knows that she’s the one for him. and that’s that.
