A timely reminder of the very real benefits of winter tyres. I had mine fitted this morning, just two hours before driving over the Cairnwell.....and thank goodness I did cos no other cars were getting up from the Spittal side!
It reminds me of in Oct 2010 when I asked a Ford garage in Edinburgh if they'd order winter tyres and they actually laughed at me. Three weeks later......the army was called out to help clear snow from the city ;-)

It’s been years since I visited the Cairnwell in Glenshee. The road is still just as steep and the glens are just as glacial as ever I remembered. This is the view from the ski centre, Glenshee.
