CAHF Disaster Preparedness Releases Disaster App
California Association of Health Facilities has released a new Disaster Preparedness App designed as "A simple and FREE way to be better prepared for an emergency" and is holding a free webinar to learn about the app and implement it in your organization.
From CAHF's Press Release:Ā
When you think about it, most emergencies or disaster events donāt happen between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday (the typical work week).Ā Actually that period of time (8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday) only makes up 24 percent of the time your facility is providing care and services for your residents.Ā Most incidents happen during the hours when staffing levels are reduced and management is not on site.Ā So why would you want to only have access to your important emergency information only 24 percent of the time?
Well now you can have access to your important emergency information all the time,Ā Yes 24 ā 7.Ā The CAHF Disaster Preparedness program has developed the āCAHF Disaster Appā for your electronic devices (phones, tablets, and computers) that provides you with emergency information.Ā The CAHF Disaster App, specifically designed for SNFs and ICF-DDs, includes important general emergency information and your facility specific emergency information.Ā And best of all it is FREE.
To access this new app you can go to http://dpapp.cahf.org.Ā You can view and register your facility. But even better yet, on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. the CAHF Disaster Preparedness Program will hold a FREE webinar on how to obtain and use the new āCAHF Disaster Appā.Ā This one hour webinar will explain how to find and get the new app for your electronic devices.Ā The webinar speakers will provide a guided tour of the App and instruct participants how to register their facility so that they can upload āfacility specificā information.Ā This will allow the user to have their facility specific emergency information at their fingertips all the time.Ā And no one wants to be without critical information when you most need it - during an emergency.Ā
Come learn about this new app and become better prepared.Ā To register for the webinar please click on the following link and sign up:Ā https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/5178829880758724354
WASHDAY: Sunday 22nd March 2015
Todayās wash day was something I really looked forward too. I get so busy during the week that Sundays are the only day I can dedicate to a long and exhaustive wash day so last Sunday or for the whole weekend actually, I went home for Motherās Day to wine and dine my mamma but unfortunately, that meant that the time I normally wash my hair on a Sunday was spent packing up and heading back to University.
1. I started with a prepoo with Hairvedaās Vatika Frosting for an hour and added a bit of heat so that it would really soak into my hair.
2. Then I rinsed and shampooed with Creme of Natureās Argan Oil Shampoo, which felt like actual heaven in my hair! I could not get enough.Ā
3. After this, I rinsed and did a green tea rinse. I didnāt do this for too long because I was in a very uncomfortable position. I think thatās why my hair is still shedding more than Iād like it to. Either that, or my coursework deadlines and self-imposed Easter break filling with revision, essay writing and driving lessons is starting to stress me out.
4. Then I deep conditioned with Aubreys Organics GPB Conditioner. Iāve read in a million different ways that if your regime isnāt broke, donāt fix it but Iām starting to think that it is broken because my mum felt my hair and said it felt like straw. I;m thinking of changing my deep conditioner. I need a proteiny conditioner that isnātĀ GPB. Will research. I did this for an hour again.
5. After an hour, I rinsed and added Hairvedaās Red Tea Daily Hair ConditionerĀ while I showered.Ā
6. After that, I just moisturised and sealed with Darcys Botanicals and Olive and Castor oil.Ā
All in all, Iām beginning to understandĀ that my hair needs more moisture. Just when I thought my hair was doing well! Ah well, Iām literally counting down the days until someone installs twists in my HAIR!
Shedding and Breakage
I think this is something I will always struggle with. I will never be able to perfect my regime to the point where my shedding/breakage stops. Iāve reconciled with that fact even if it is annoying.Ā
After a desparate - and I know it must have been desparate because my mum never calls me about hair. Ever since I started my hair journey, sheās been like āstay in your lane and Iāll stay in mine and weāll see whose hair falls out first.ā She thinks Iām using too many different products and isnāt really bothered to listen to what each of them do. However, she is getting awestruck with my hair but she just wants me to 'doā her hair rather than learn how to do her own hair.Ā
She called and asked how to deal with shedding and I had a list of suggestions that Iād read about or heard through the grapevine. If anyone has an further suggestions, please help a mama-and-daughter-duo out!
A couple things Iāve learnt which have helped me out immensely are that 1) Shedding is longer strands with a white bulb at the top, 2) Breakage is shorter strands that can have splits in them and that 3) Some shedding is normal.
Iāve crossed out the ones Iāve tried that have helped some.
Green tea rinse
Black tea rinse
Coffee rinses
Organix Anti-Breakage Serum
Protective styles
Less manipulation
Seamless comb
Balance moisture/protein levels -Ā Half crossed out because itās a WIP
Garlic oil in your conditioner

WASHDAY: Sunday 15th February 2015
Today's wash day went much the same as every other. The only thing I'm annoyed about is shedding. I went and bought Twinings Green Tea because I figured my hair deserved a brand name and only just realised that I bought the decaffeinated version. Blah! That's annoying because it's my herbal way of ingesting caffeine on tired mornings and because caffeine is the WHOLE reason green tea works as a shedding repellant/preventer/detractor/fixer. I used it anyway and it didn't really make much difference to my hair! Wah! Ready for a week of shedding then.
1. I started with Vatika Frosting prepoo, which I used for an hour.
2. Then, I rinsed with the showerhead and shampooed with Creme of Nature's sulphate-free shampoo, which actually helps to detangle my hair before my deep condition. Bonuses, bonuses!
3. After, I green tea rinsed then dried my hair with green tea in and deep conditioned with AO's GPB for an hour.
4. I rinsed after this and addedĀ Hairveda's Red Tea conditioner (the conditioner to end all conditioners) before I took a shower. I rinsed the conditioner out too at the end of the shower.
5. Then I moisturised and sealed with grapeseed oil and Darcy's Botanicals Leave In Conditioner.
Can't wait to put my hair into a protective style to be honest! Thinking twists, so you may see me reblogging twists that I think are beautiful!!!!
