Bell's Hells peer pressures Dorian into drowning in blood with them.

oh this is my new favorite battle map shot
absolute BANGER of an ep and the way the matron presented her position to bells hells is SO good to me.
because she explicitly tells them that she won’t tell them what to do. she believes that the system in place is not fully beneficial to mortals and she makes that clear to them BUT she also makes it clear that she isn’t asking them to destroy it all and start over. she is NOT telling them to release predathos as the only solution. she’s asking them to make the decision for themselves because they’re the ones who should have control of their fates
she even makes it clear that if they get through this with a solution that ends with the current divine system still in place that she will respect that, even if she believes that they should at the very least renegotiate the power structure.
all this boils down to the fact that the matron made them a promise during this exchange, that promise being that no matter the outcome she will not run.
and like, ultimately, that was the BIGGEST thing that sold me on the matron’s ideals over the arch heart’s. because despite the fact that she DESPERATELY wants to have peace and vacate her position in the divine system, her unwavering stance was that mortals were deserving of autonomy and choice. and that they are beyond more capable than the divine give them credit for.

THEY'RE BACK
super fucked up, vax and keyleth paralleling the raven queen and her predecessor
fate-touched, destined, cornerstone of the world, estranged and devoted to the end of time
oh so that's why the matron was always fond of sarenrae. because sarenrae was a gentle reminder of nahal, first god of death. the matron loved the first god of death and although we'll never know if he had loved back, isn't it a wonderful reassurance for the matron nonetheless to witness a God loving a mortal so fiercely that she's built a life with him? it's it nice (hurtful) to speculate on whether He had thought of his clever mortal in this exact way? however briefly it might've been? for anything is possible, surely.
