F2F || Marlia || Studio Saturday
Marley couldn't remember a weekend going by since Carter's death that she hadn't stopped by the house to see Syria and help out. In a way, she supposed it was her way of making peace with his passing, and her way of being there for Syria when she honestly had no clue how to be otherwise. And funneling their energy into making his once-decrepit little house into something truly wonderful had been a great distraction for them both, no doubt. She'd helped paint walls, assemble furniture, decorate, the whole nine yards. Every week - every day, it sometimes felt like - the house was evolving with something new to create a multi-functional place. A safe place. A home.
Granted, this weekend and the previous weekend hadn't been as easy to swing. Between disappearing for that unauthorized rescue mission and finally being grounded for her 'tattoo', it had been difficult to find a plausible excuse that would allow her to leave the house. Marley had been able to appeal to her mother's softer side though - any mention of Syria, the friend whose boyfriend had died so tragically, seemed to make her more agreeable to leaving the house for 'moral support' related reasons. And of course with the promise that she would come straight home afterwards. So she'd confirmed with Syria that she'd be over that afternoon, just in time to catch Finn leaving from training with her. Their time together had been limited too since returning to Reefside, so every spare moment they could manage to get together was spent wisely.
After exchanging a sufficient hello and goodbye with her boyfriend, Marley headed the rest of the way into the house, just letting herself in that time. She was over at the house enough that she finally felt comfortable enough doing so. "Syria?" she called out, setting a few plastic bags on the coffee table. Her mother had sent her with some old things around the house that they weren't using anymore for decoration - curtains for the as-of-yet-bare windows, a few candles, a rooster lamp that once belonged to her grandmother, and a mix of kitchen supplies that were still of good use but not being used by them - and given how Syria seemed hopeful of turning the house into both a safe haven and a place to entertain, she hoped she might find the items useful. "I'm in the living room!"
