Vampires were once the undisputed rulers of the night and underworld. They lived in a hedonistic society with their own laws and traditions ruled over by a council of vampires known as The Court. Unlike many of their supernatural brethren, vampire society thrived and was almost completely self-sustaining thanks to the Red Market, a criminal blood trade started by the Court at the start of the modern era.

However, their society has now fallen apart. Many vampires live scattered and know nothing about the rules and traditions of old vampire society, or even of its existence at all.

Since before the annals of history were written, before the Iliad was spoken and the memory of people have been passed on, there has been magic. Under both the gaze of the moon and the bright city lights, magic lives on through the veins of witches. Able to thrive among both human and supernatural kind, witches are some of the most numerous and versatile supernaturals in the world.

While only as physically strong as humans, witches have domain over multiple fields of magic through a magical connection to a being known as a familiar. Through this connection witches are able to cast powerful spells to protect, harm, divine, or create.

And through forbidden magic- they can even alter fate itself.

Werewolves were born thousand of years ago from a spell gone wrong. Cursed to walk the land as half-man half-beast, werewolves are often slaves to the violent and unpredictable change. They are widely hunted and distrusted, often only finding solace with each other and their tight knit packs.

La Luna is home of the werewolf. As the settlement was originally formed as a werewolf sanctuary, werewolves have always been a staple in this small town. However, as the influence of other groups has grown stronger in the last few decades, werewolves have been slowly pushed to the outskirts.

Today, there are two primary werewolf packs in La Luna: The Fringe Pack & the Garcia pack. The Fringe Pack is the largest werewolf pack in La Luna, having survived for decades on a heady combination of pure dumb luck & tenacity. However, the pack is chaotic and diverse and the child of its former alpha struggles to keep control. Meanwhile the Garcia pack are politicians with ties to many supernatural factions in town. They were considered a beacon of community and safety until a scandal leading to the disgrace of its alpha and beta has left the pack reeling about its future.

Merfolk are aquatic creatures with the upper body of a human and the tail of a fish. They are creatures surrounded by many legends and amongst supernatural populations it is considered unlucky to do anything unkind to merfolk. Their mesmerizing beauty and enchanting voices can lure creatures of any kind to their doom. However they are also said to reward kindness and treasure by granting boons such as protection across the sea or aid during shipwrecks.

In La Luna, there is no established pod of merfolk. However due to the town’s proximity to the Ocean, speculation about mermaids within both the supernatural and human population in town are common.

Dragons are rare, prideful, and highly territorial creatures characterized by their sheer size, impenetrable scales, and long lifespans. They traditionally live in mated pairs and rule over the same territory their entire lives. They have a strong culture valuing beauty and strength, with an emphasis on finding a desirable mate and having children.

With the rise of modern technology, dragons were hunted nearly to extinction two hundred years ago by a rising hunter group called The Order. Many surviving dragons were forced to leave their closely guarded territories, assuming human forms in order to hide and survive in modern society.
