not sure who needs to hear this, but: softness and desire can coexist with resolve and fortitude; gentleness and compassion can coexist with anger and indignation; yearning and romanticism can coexist with trauma and pain. None of these traits are mutually exclusive, in characters or in people.

humans contain multitudes and they contain contradictions. To draw out one facet of a character in narrative is not necessarily a denial of the other facts.
