What's this? An MHA post? I want to talk about something important to me in the MHA fanon, and that would be the Dekusquad and the Bakusquad, and how they aren't as small as we think. I know it's kind of down the middle if Tokoyami is Dekusquad or if Jirou is Bakusquad, but as we go on it seems more and more like that is the case. But you know who else is in the Bakusquad? Three people that deserve to be called members! Hagakure, Ojirou, and Satou. These characters are often shown with established bakusquad memebers or even the whole group, and it makes me sad that they aren't considered members. Because they are! It's like how Tokoyami is Dekusquad, but you wanna know who else is? Yaoyorozu and Shouji who are often seen with Dekusquad characters. The only people who don't really have a squad are Mineta, Koda and Aoyama, and for weirdly similar and very different reasons.
For Mineta, it's no actually what you think, it's that he actually has a lot of interaction with both squads. I think if anything he leans more into the Bakusquad because of his friendship with Kaminari, and the fact Sero is always on his ass, basically being the one to say, 'hey, Mineta, keep that and I will tape you to the wall'. Sero is actually a huge character in Mineta's character development, and I reckon more than even say Midoriya, who inspires Mineta, but they don't interact narratively enough for it to have any real cause and affect, but they do appear and don't hate on me for this, off screen friends. Yeah... Midoriya and Mineta are friends, it's sad but true. But I don't really want to place Mineta in the Dekusquad, for the reason that Mineta does interact more with bakusquad folk. Koda is the opposite, he doesn't have as much screen time, and it's hard to place him because of that, but he is seen with Ashido and Jirou and Hagakure, but seems closer with Shouji and Tokoyami, making me want to say that he is despite having more screen time with Bakusquad characters, more Dekusquad. Lastly Aoyama, and I will try to not be biased, as I don't like to consider him Dekusquad like many people do, only because of two reasons, one is silly goofy the other is the one I will go in to the most depth about. 1) Here is my silly reason, putting Aoyama in the Dekusqaud ruins the lovely little pattern the the squad's namesake is the oldest. For my more serious reason: 2) Aoyama doesn't consider himself worthy to be in either groups, he often ostracizes himself from the group for guilt and as the show goes on and we see him interactly albeit sublty with EVERYONE, and that is so important for the current arc we are in, we need to show that he has a bond with everyone because that is why people forgive him, even if those moments are subtle. We see Hagakure and Ashido in shambles by his betrayel because I absolutely consider them his closest friends in the class. We have sene that from very early on, especially Ashido and Aoyama. And I don't think it was a coincidence that Horikoshi made it Hagakure to find out first, and not because of her quirk, or the brief red herring, but because the shows biggest theme has always been frienship, and who else to expose the betrayal first to then then an established friend of the character who is the traitor. Aoyamma is the gray space still, because he can't be fully integrated until his demons have been cleared, he isn't a member of a squad, because at this point in the story, he has to prove himself to be worthy of standing with class A as a whole. Honestly I think the concept of the squads got harder to pinpoint after the Culture Festival Arc, as many of the characters got closer, and new dynamics have been introduced, and so they blended into one giant Class A squad, but it is fun to think of the squads as like this inside joke in the class, but also not really a thing anymore as they are all very close and blended together.
