Nas - Untitled Album (2008) I've known Nas to be one of the most entertaining, witty and clever artists of all time. I've always thought id Nas as a very fun artist that will make your head bounce up and down while he's rapping circles around it... This isn't a bad album, but i was a bit dissapointed when considering all of his absolute classics. This album feels like it wants to be a political, anti government, anti police commentary album first and a hip hop album second. I do admire Nas speaking on how much of a problem still is today. Let me be perfectly clear; i have no problrm with anyone taking a stand on racism, but as a rap album, i just find it hard to enjoy for for than 1 listen. It takes the fun, Entertaining aspect out of hip hop a bit. This isn't an album you can just throw on at anytime. I do have to say that Nas' word play and lyicism is as top notch as ever on this project. Unfortunately i also found it a bit inconsistent with pop attempts on tracks like "Hero" "We Make The World go Round". This album has such a political core that feels forced, more often than not. Instead of offering solutions, Nas is usually just talking about the problems. Nas is one of my favouite artists of all time. Let's talk about what I liked now. Busta Rhymes and Nas have a back and forth lyical pow wow on the track "Fried Chicken. I really enjoyed the introspective, optimistic song "Black President". Like i Said before, even on the tracks I didn't care for, i have to admit his lyicism and wordplay is always there. Overall i think this album was a step in the wrong direction for Nas. There are only a few tracks i loved. It was very inconsistent and many tracks felt a bit forced.
