He leaned against the door frame, watching from a short distance as Ilona dressed and put herself together. Even after more than thirty years at each others’ sides, he never failed to enjoy the simplest of moments with her. Every woman had their own routines, he was sure, but he’d always enjoyed watching hers. Especially when that routine was altered for an event, like today. Another party; another ‘gift’ from Brutus. 

At least there would be cake. He liked cake.

Pushing off against the doorway, he moved into her room, settling himself against the wall nearest her, resisting the urge to drag his foot up against it. She’d always hated him doing that in the house- ‘You’ll leave scuff marks!’- and he smiled.

"I can’t really blame him for wanting to do this,” he said, bringing up an earlier discussion, “I mean, it has been twenty years.” He raised his arms one at a time, fiddling with his cuff-links. Reaching up higher, he shuffled a hand through the hair that had once been quite blond, but now grew duller as the years went by. They’d grown up together, grown together, and here they were, growing older than he’d ever thought they’d be. You couldn’t tell by looking at Ilona, though, and Cass still insisted that she looked as gorgeous as she had at twenty.

Relationship Status: 

Married, though that’s a detail we often forget about and have forgotten to address almost a decade down the line. 

Feelings toward them:

Cassius means more to me than I could possibly ever put in to words. He knows how important he is to me, and that is all that matters. No one else needs to know the details of our relationship;

Fantasies about them:

I’d be lying if I said I’d never had any, of course I have but it’s none of your damn business... It’s probably safe to say that when the mood really hits, all bets are off regarding what we get up to.

Trait they like:

His ability to bring me back from even the darkest corners of my own mind. I have no idea how he does it, but he’s the only one who knows just what to do when things get bad. 

Trait they dislike:

There is almost nothing that I dislike about Cassius. Sure he can be a cheeky sod at times and knows how to wind me up, but I don’t think there is anything about him that I dislike exactly. I do, however, dislike just how much I have come to rely on him being there for me. And I mean that in the sense that I fear that one day it will just be too much for him to deal with, and he will leave forever. 

Favorite thing to do to bug them:

It’s always fun to force him in to situations or occasions where he has to dress smartly. Better ye, his reaction to having to go out and purchase new suits is truly priceless.   

Favorite thing to do to cheer them up:

I let him take us out on the bike. He knows I don’t like it, but I know it makes him happy when I agree to go for a run with him. 

Nightmare they had involving them:

I find that a lot of my nightmares involve Cass in some way or another, but the one that haunts me the most is the one that involves him turning his back on me, forgetting all about me.

Dream they had involving them:

Like my nightmares, Cass is usually one to be in most of my dreams as well, that is, when I am able to sleep soundly enough in order to dream. But when I have dreams involving Cassius, they often depict us being at peace, with no troubles or cares to speak of. I once dreamed that we had children, and that everything was considerably more bright. That, I am still convinced was a nightmare, but it didn’t feel like it entirely.

False. We went to the gala together. Us wandering off to talk to other people means nothing.
