Bunny bootcamp #2:
Discovering personal style w/ Pinterest.
🙋♀️- “hey guys, what are the girlies all wearing this summer!”
💁🏾♀️- “i have no sense of style..”
🙎🏼♀️- “idk what my aesthetic is!!” *frantically follows whatever trend is going on and doesn’t take time to research what they actually like*
🤷🏻♀️ - *buys whatevers trending on TikTok or because everyone else is wearing it and ends up with stuff they never use*
Oh girl, I think it’s time to build some authenticity…
#sidenote: In all seriousness, theres nothing wrong with not knowing. But, instead of mindlessly finding random things, try searching for things that you actually like, yes these things can change. Ofc you can follow trends if that’s what you want. But for those that desperately want a personal style, this read is for you!
Step 1: Utilising Pinterest
If you don’t already have Pinterest, nows the time to get it. I want you to create a board called “[your name] core”. If you have a new account it might be a bit annoying but you need to like and save pins that interest you so it keeps pushing it to you.
Pinterest is amazing for inspiration and vision boards. I find it very therapeutic to organise and add pins and I find myself using it everyday!
Step 2: what pins to add?
Add anything that interests you and something that might only make sense to you. It doesn’t matter what it is, it can be text, people that resonate with you, tv shows, clothing style, dream self inspiration, literally whatever. This is what makes you, you. Keep adding to it whenever you can and when in doubt you can scroll through it. Those pins make up whatever is in your mind and are a clear indicator of your personal “core”.
Step 3: Be authentic.
Don’t feel embarrassed by anything. You can private the board if you feel uncomfortable. This is what we are going to use to properly formate your “core”, so it has to be authentic to you. Don’t try make it this aesthetic bs type thing, it can be messy and random and inconsistent, I give you full permission to stop boxing yourself and let loose.
Step 4: Scrolling through and selecting pins to replicate
Now, all you have to do is scroll through your board once you have added a decent amount of pins. Select a few you resonate with the most and analyse those pins.
What are they wearing that draws you to that pin? What hairstyle are they wearing that you like? How do they do their makeup? What accessories are they using? Why do i like this text so much? Why does this inspire me? What about this person draws me in?… etc.
Once you have compiled a few answers, you now have an idea about what your style is and what kind of mindset you may have. Start replicating that in your real life.
Go thrifting/ to charity shops, order online (avoid fast fashion if thats what your heart aligns with) , DIY by sewing clothes and accessories, printing out posters you like, replicating the makeup you feel inspired by without feeling shame (Which is okay! Being authentic when you’re not used to it is a journey).
Once you feel aligned with your board (or maybe you fully don’t, after all we are forever evolving but at least content in your personal style), you have developed your personal “core”!
