RIP Leelah Alcorn
Guys, I wanna talk about something really important to me.
In Jan 2015 I joined Tumblr. I was just discovering LGBT and asexuality and a bunch of other stuff my parents and social circles had kept hidden from me for years.
One of the first ever posts I found back then was Leelah Alcorn. She had just died on Dec 28, mere weeks earlier.She was the first trans person I ever heard of as a trans person. And she had died. I remember combing Tumblr for anything about her. I couldnt believe what I was reading. Was this what Transgender people went through? I had just come out as gender fluid. My heart went out.
Leelah is my heroine. She...changed everything. Hearing her story, seeing the outpouring of support, it helped me realize I was entering into a community. And that was important for me to know. She also helped me realize how far we have to go, and how damaging ignorance and hate could be. i owe a lot of who I am to her.
Rest in Peace, Leelah Alcorn. May the gods bless your soul and may you have the body you deserve when you rejoin us in your next life. Peace upon you.

I have EDS, MCAS, and POTS. Between 2018-2021, I was homeless and i really abused my body by ignoring pain, and pushing past the point of survival. I was really proud of my ability to do whatever it took to survive, often walking for 3-5 hours a day on very little food and water, pushing past injuries and exhaustion. I felt like I was 'resilient', but I was actually destroying my body. then in 2021, my body broke down. Pain to the point I passed out at work, constant illnesses and suddenly I was bedridden. I lost my job, my mobility, and I had to relearn everything about life and myself. it was as if my body had picked up the last box and walked the last mile. Since then Ive had to put in a lot of work to learn my limits. Its hard because I was raised that rest has to be earned and anything more than what you 'earn' is laziness. It took having my entire body betray me to give myself grace
This song reminds me of those times. I wish I could have told myself back then how to rest, how to give yourself grace, and how to adjust expectations.
Bipolar sucks because atm i really really dont care if i lose my job when im fucking just trying to care about staying alive. But i also know eventually ill be manic and then i will really fucking care about the lost job and things will get really ugly really fast if mania!me doesnt have a job. And i already know that theres no getting out of life. We're all trapped in here until life lets us out. We dont get to die when we want to. Which means actions have consequences and i'll end up caring and it will be horrible. But also, i right now in the moment do not care. And what if i just took another day off and laid in bed all day crying and dissociating?
Tfw you are so so so not ok atm but you've already trauma dumped on all your friends twice in 1 week and you dont want them to burn out just cus your burnt out so you stop posting on any app where your friends are on and Tumblr has become the only place you can talk about your shit on.

Your mitochondria were shared between you and every daughter, woman, and mother who ever smiled and loved and gave birth and rocked her baby. your ancestors bequeathed their atoms to you and ancient plants passed on the sunlight and sugar and oxygen they had so carefully created and stored away.
Look at your hands. billions of cells and atoms you borrowed from people you knew and will never know. Breathe in deep. Every living thing on earth since the dawn of life has tasted that air. It was shouted and gasped and screamed and sighed and sobbed and panted; and you, beautiful you, are continuing a tradition as old as the light from Proxima Centauri. When you eat, you are literally burning the energy of the sun stored by plants and the animals that ate them. You are part of a millennia-old attempt of the universe to express life in as many ways as possible
Life is beautiful. How beautiful to be a part of it. How lucky we are to live and to be alive. All that is asked is that you exist and you continue to exist until you join the cycle and become a part of the rebirth.
Evolution states that our ancestors crawled out of the ocean.
Historians believe that settlements formed on the banks or rivers, lakes, or ports of seas.
Maybe it's because we never forgot where we came from.
Maybe we all yearn to return.
Maybe the sea calls out to the parts of our DNA that once swam in vast prehistoric waters.
People always talk about how we are all stardust.
But by that token, we also are all sea creatures.
Maybe that is why my soul aches for the shore like a spiritual wound, throbbing dully in the back of my psyche.
Because yes, I was stardust,
but then I was in the sea.
And the stars are hard to get to, but I can drive to the beach.
