And I’m so glad I majored in ecology and biology instead of computer science. I’m good with computers, but it makes me so frustrated I’m barely able to sit up after a project like this. AND I STILL GOTTA DO THE SOFTWARE.
BUT I DONE DID IT.
Here’s my work station with all the parts.

Case opened and ready. It has a dust filter and 3 fans. Decent cord management.
Motherboard with CPU and Cooler installed. I used the standard heat sink.
Mmmmm look at these babies. Easy install. So far so good.
Took a bit to get the Mother Board all set into place but after that all went smoothly.
Screwed in Motherboard and the Power Supply and a Hard Drive. All easy.
...And this is where I hit a stop. No idea where to install the Solid State Drive on this case. Had to dig in all the manuals before I figured out it JUST GOES IN THE SIDE LIKE NOTHING OK.
THIS GRAPHICS CARD. Feel the power. It looks like I should be putting this inside of a car engine block, not a computer.
Shazam! It’s in. Hopefully the case can support that beast.
And now 30 minutes pass as I fiddle with tiny cords and connectors and curse a lot.

Can the coolant line please just work for me!? Every time I a piece inside if it, it seems to stop working and start leaking. I have messed up two to three of these compression fittings, I’m going to buy new tubing and barbed compression fittings and hopefully that will fix all my problems. I’m not going back to the main place I got the others from, not because they were bad but because their shipping time is a week. Slovenia or some other COTS items that I can get her in two days... I’d rather the quick fix than spend the humongous wait and shipping cost.
I cursed and stomped and made noises when it kept on leaking. One piece would stop leaking, then another would start, rinse and repeat. I don’t think they are supposed to leak this much. Going to re-do the tubing and those parts.
I’ve assembled and disassembled the cooling setup so much I have become an expert at cooling hookups.
It’s 3:32AM on a early Tuesday morning. I’m currently browsing the internet scouring for my next PC with the non-existent funds that I plan to use to purchase the aforementioned PC. With my finances in disarray and patience at a breaking point, it is time to take affirmative action in beginning the procurement process of the greatest PC to ever walk the face of the earth (with the trusty sidekick to boot, an MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch laptop).
Putting the evident exaggerations aside, I’m literally becoming tired of this thing I call a “PC”. There’s a very real possibility that I have failed my university degree because of it’s neutered capabilities (which I should have fixed LONGGG ago) and ultimately will be paying the price when I get my results. I also wish to reboot my gaming channel using PC games instead of what’s available on my Xbox One and to top it all off my GPU is on it’s last legs.
Therefore I will be composing a list of preliminary candidates for PC components that will be continuously modified over a period of 6 months to 2 years. Taking into account the long waiting period, a final decision will most likely be taken by the end of this year. As for the MacBook Pro, the main focus will be on the new PC so the laptop will be taking a backseat for now although funds will be saved up-towards a ceiling of £2000.
I would post the findings that I have now, but I feel it’s still early to do so just yet. (It’s really just a gaming PC anyways, shouldn’t take too long or would it?)
