i got the best ever pics of this dimorphic jumping spider! soooo pretty. these might be some of my fav pics ive ever taken.

theyre called this cause the males come in two different morphs, a grayish blueish one with these floofy orange palps (their little pawsies)

and a darker male with this weird ass hairdo (picture from wikipedia)

the two males have different mating dances that start off differently but otherwise are quite similar. the lighter colored males come closer than the darker ones, crouch their body forward with their front legs crossed, hold their paws under the eyes, and wiggles their bodies back and forth. while the darker ones raise their body up high and raise their front longs and palps, clapping their hands and waving the palps, while wiggling their bodies side to side.

its pretty rare for such distinctive phenotypes and mating dances to co occur in a single species but it seems both just work and are about equally attractive to the females.

these are the females btw (picture also from wikipedia). as with most spiders theyre slightly larger than the males.
