haha no, sadly, no news yet! the movie is currently in production - i would guess still in the writing/planning stage, as kubo seems to be the busy one compared to yamamoto right now. she has tweeted twice now within the last week that she’s working on it (1, 2).
if i had to give it a guess, it will be released late 2018. summer if they make good speed, but i’d rather they take their time to get it right.
there is no news at all about a season 2. i wouldn’t count it out as a possibility especially if the movie does well -- i would be shocked if it doesn’t, considering the continued massive success of season 1 -- but there has been nothing mentioned regarding anything except for the movie.
