I e seen more shinies in the anime than gender differences, unfortunately. Probably just a pain in the ass for the animators to keep track of. Like, a pikachu is a pikachu, dammit, I donāt care if it has a notch in its tail!! *draws male pikachu*
no thatās not what I mean. I mean like Ash literally does not know whether his pikachu that is his best friend is a male or a female. To him, pikachu is anĀ āitā. Also, Meowth, who can talk and is very clearly male, is often referred to asĀ āitā even by TR. Why are they genderless?Ā

Iād agree with all that. And as a huge James fangirl the episode made HIM look fantastic. She just really ticked me off throughout and I didnāt find her ācuteā or āsweetā at all; it just left a bad taste in my mouth and whenever I see reblogged images of her from it I like, grit my teeth and scroll by bitterly, lol.
well i mean... that's jessie. she's a very layered character. she's not there to be cute or sweet, she's there to be the whirlwind that she is. the fact that she elicited any emotion from u at all means the writers did their job :P

Itās not a battle - there are no battles. You catch bugs in a net, fish with a rod and you can clock villagers on the head but that only leaves them ticked off and then useless for a while.
