For most of Darius's life, anything he wanted he could easily take. Money, flowers, gadgets, anything that caught his eye would be his with just a little tune (barring intervention from the bat, of course). But you? Oh, when he saw you, he knew he had to do this right. He couldn't just cast a spell and sing a duet, he wanted this to be real. Though childhood rejections replayed in his mind, he held on to the hope that maybe someone could really, organically like him. And you've got him so lovestruck, he couldn't just ignore his feelings! He had to try. Darius falls very fast and very hard, and when you tell him you'd love to get dinner and a movie-musical, he's a blushing, flustered, delighted mess.

Big, flashy gestures and gifts are his main ways of showing his affections, but if that's not your speed he'll try to rein himself in. With him, though, even the little things have a grandeur to them. When walking down a busy street together, the crowd will perfectly part for you as he sings under his breath and waves his hand. If you passively comment on liking the look of a piece of clothing, it's yours, whether it's getting bought or stolen. The tired pop songs that you always hear playing in stores, to the point that they might as well not be playing, find new life as he taps his foot or hand to the beat. And the big things, holidays, anniversaries, birthdays? You're like the most important person in the history of Gotham.

He loves spending quality time with you. Someone to talk to other than himself or himself-through-a-different-person is something he didn't realize he needed quite so much. He eagerly tells you about new songs he's composing, new schemes he's planning out, new dramatic costume changes he could make. And when hearing about your day, your plans, your interests, he's an invested audience. Mental notes of your favorite things and subtle quirks form a mental catalog of potential gifts, things to talk about, things to sing about, things he loves about you.

For a man who could have just about anything he wanted, he sure does melt when you get him gifts. Like... you got this! For him! You chose to give him something that he wanted, or that you thought he would like, because you wanted him to enjoy it and be happy! What! This is incredible! You're incredible! And though he is plenty confident in his performance abilities, your praise means the world to him. Complimenting his songs, his outfits, his evil plans, always gets him blushing and grinning his big, gap-toothed smile.
