#bsd vampires

He finally gets to find out if he's right

bungou stray dogs was one of my favourite animes years ago and then when I found the manga I absolutely fell in love with it. it was so perfect: the characters, the art, the plot the found family trope, the light novels, the beast au, dazai's character, akutagawa's one as well, sokouku and shinsoukoku.

but this last episode really was... something

I felt like I wasn't watching that emotional deep anime anymore( tbh I felt like that throughout the last 2 seasons bc of studio bones and their struggles to animate it without earsing essential parts for the plot/charcters development). I for real felt like I was watching a kids show( yay power of friendship)

here are the main things I didn't like:

-how didn't fyodor notice that chuuya wasn't actually a vampire?? and that both him and dazai were trying to be nominated for the Oscars? like fr, chuuya literally had red contacts and fake fangs glued on. that doesn't sound like something that could fool fyodor at all, like... why made him a "genius" character if he can be fooled easy like that

-with all this "we were acting" thing, asagiri erased all the heartful moments between dazai and chuuya(ex: dazai saying his goodbyes, him being in pain bc of chuuya's gun)

--fyodor's death?!? it was so... underwhelming( but I loved how poor Nikolai reacted, that was like the only thing I liked from this ending)

-how we find out that fukuchi actually wasn't planning something so evil and how he already planned that the one order will listen to fukuzawa's voice AND that continuing into an even greater chaos... at this point it feels like the story will never end

-the plot armour. this was already a problem, as many other things I said here, but now is even worse. we already were making theories that x is not dead and y will be healed by yosano, but now is getting boring. for 5 seasons we had so many fights and all of our lovely charcters somehow survived all of them, at this point I'm not even worring even if the end of the world comes( ironic, isn't it) bc I know that almost everyone will survive. it's not that I'm mad that they didn't die/suffer( my pookie akutagawa is alive after all), but still...

So let's start with Akutagawa. I think that he survives. I don't know all the facts but from what I can infer the injury that killed him isn't there anymore, it healed. Therefore why would he die? I know he already died once and that could mean that he could just drop dead but I don't think that's the case. That wouldn't be a very good way to end it for him and it would be strange. A vampire is an undead creature and the definition of undead is "not dead : returned from or as if from death:". This definition implies that the undead creature doesn't necessarily have to be dead to be undead. Not to mention several of the people bitten where alive at the time and it wouldn't make sense to just kill all of them off when the sword is pulled just because the were bitten. Also why would you kill a character, bring them back to life as a vampire and then kill them again like that. By letting Akutagawa and the other vampires live after the sword is pulled, would add extra drama/twists to the story. I personally just don't think it would make sense to kill him all over again.

Now let's talk about Atsushi. I could be wrong about parts of his current situation but I believe that we left off with him extremely injured and being bitten by Akutagawa. So the main questions here are; will he die due to his injuries and/or will he become a vampire. My guess is no for both. I think Atsushi will live even with all of his injuries but not because he becomes a vampire. I think his ability will save him instead. What if as a reponse to being bitten his ability rejects the vampirism and instead activates. This could cause his injuries to heal and possibly even allow him to beat Akutagawa or at least hold him off long enough for Aya to take out the sword.

Certain parts could be incorrect, I couldn't remember the chapter name and I couldn't find pictures so maybe I'm just delusional af.

Hello! I've had this idea floating around in my head for a bit, so I wanted to make this post to share it!

I recalled how Harukawa draws the light and dark in a character's eyes to provide a guide to their psyche or how 'tainted' and unable to 'go back' they are, and with the latest chapters, my mind has been wanting to connect that to how the eyes of different turned characters look.

I've seen a few people bounce around ideas or hopes that once a character is turned, they can somehow become human again. I share in those hopes and ideas, so I'll also be using that in this mini-theory!

Now, on the different types of eyes.

First, Akutagawa and Gin:

Second, Higuchi:

And third, Chuuya:

Fully black eyes: means there is virtually no going back. In this context, could mean that there is no chance they will become human again.

Black eyes with a hint of white: means they're not fully gone yet, they still have ties to hope. In this context, it could mean that they have a slight chance of becoming human again.

Black and white eyes: mean the character has a "balance" between light and dark. In this context, I think it means the character has either a higher probability (than the last bullet) of becoming human again or, that the character isn't as under the vampire control as the others.
