Bryum argenteum just got super tall in high humidity!
One of my students (13 y/o) unprompted came up to me and asked if I could bring my microscope to school so she could identify some moss! And she identified her first moss!!
it’s Bryum argentum!! everybody clap and cheer
I still want to x2 check some microscopic features (we used a stereo microscope) but she’s looking pretty good!!
#3019 - Bryum sp.
Formerly the largest genus of moss, with over 1000 species, but split into three in 2005, and split further based on genetic studies in 2013.

Final Christmas gift reveal. Last year's theme in our little knitters' support group Christmas party was socks, this year it was shawls. I stalked my recipient's favorites on Ravelry and found this pattern -- and it was in my favorites as well. A fun design and the pattern is easier than it looks. Now I want to knit one for myself!
On Ravelry: Bryum
Pattern: Bryum by by Cailliau Berangere (€3.99 EUR download on Ravelry)
Yarn: Kraft Hand-Dyed Bluefaced Leicester Sock in Ashes (MC, 360 m/393 yd) and Matcha (CC, 228 m/249 yd)
