Brightly colored moss in an area no one really cares about.

Formerly Bryum capillare. A cosmopolitan species that is now found in tropical and temperate habitats worldwide, including growing under artificial lights in Wisconsin's Crystal Cave. In Australia it's common in woodlands, wet sclerophyll forest, rainforest, coastal vegetation and beside waterways.

Formerly the largest genus of moss, with over 1000 species, but split into three in 2005, and split further based on genetic studies in 2013.

A widespread genus of joint-toothed moss of about 75–100 species, of which 14 are found in Australia, and 5 ONLY in Australia. Especially diverse in Africa.
