Bruno Cappelozza stops Ante Delija - PFL 2021 3
Bruno Cappelozza (12-5) has been one of many surprises during the 2021 PFL season. After moving up from light heavyweight to participate in their heavyweight season, the Brazilian has scored 2 first round KOs that locked him the top seed. Heโs now in the playoff semifinals and heโll face Jamelle Jones (12-6) at PFL 2021 8 this Thursday (August 19) on ESPN.
Vadim Nemkov vs Bruno Cappelozza | PFL vs Bellator
Vadim Nemkov (18-2) might be the best heavyweight not in the UFC at the moment. Not a high bar, but a distinction that should be made. The former long time defending Bellator Light Heavyweight champion moved up to heavyweight in 2024 and has thus far made it look easy, taking out a former PFL tournament champion and a former UFC fighter.
Nemkov will face off with a 2nd PFL heavyweight champion, Renan Ferreira (13-4) in the main event of PFL Europe 4: 2025 Finals this Saturday (Dec. 13).
On Monday, the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced that Bruno Cappelozza has been suspended for a year for violating the PFL

Vadim Nemkov chokes out Bruno Cappelozza in the 2nd via arm triangle.
Nemkov moves up to heavyweight and looks good at heavyweight. Still looks quick and powerful. The jab is still money. Still starts exchanges from way outside. Still able to lift his opponent (who admittedly isn't a big heavyweight) on the takedown attempt. Got into a bit of trouble in round 2 as Cappelozza was building confidence firing back. Nemkov, who likes to throw from way outside, leaped forward with the right hand and got caught overextending on what I believe was a right hand of his own. I don't think Cappelozza landed clean so much as it just threw Nemkov off balance and he stumbled backwards to his butt. Cappelozza tried to capitalize but Nemkov grabbed the waist and turned him to the fence. Picked him up, took him down, and got to mount. From there locked up an arm triangle. The tap never came and Cappelozza went to sleep.
Not really sure what to think of Nemkov at heavyweight. PFL's heavyweight division is slightly better than their light heavyweight division and he's already run through everyone in Bellator's 205 division. Says he wants a title shot, though I'm not sure what that even means anymore with PFL basically running like 5 different promotions under one umbrella. Sucks he didn't move up quicker because he could have had a shot in the main event and then potentially gotten the Ngannou fight.
Bellator goes up 3-0.
