Hey guys. 

We wanted to keep everyone up to date on the current situation for Feranix. Life has thrown a huge curve ball for most of the Dev Team this past year. Many core members of the team have had numerous health scares and major life changes that have slowed development. Things are pretty topsy-turvy at the moment and it isn't conducive for the bold steps forward we want to continue making. Until more people are able to dedicate the time and effort to giving the game the stable updates it needs going forward, Feranix will be on hiatus. But once the Dev Team is in a better place, we will be back. As the only expense while we're away will be upkeeping the hosting costs of the site, we will be taking down the Patreon and paying for that out of pocket. 

Our hiatus will not affect alpha accounts or perks. Everyone will keep their accounts, their numbers, and their bonus packages. Feranix will be back as quickly as it possibly can. We're committed to accomplishing what we set out to develop and we're extremely grateful to the community for its continued support through good times and bad. 

Our long silences are NOT AT ALL because nothing is happening. A TON of things are going on behind the scenes and we cannot wait to share them with you all. But we have moved to using our Patreon more and more and we’re now working on a set schedule for releasing new stuff. I do have one small thing to share with you all today, a lovely explore encounter style done by new artist Rubyz! We’re still debating precisely how explore is going to look but we all really love this. You’ve seen part of this picture already but this is really very much how we’re wanting explore to look so enjoy it!

Our plan is for some encounters to have different effects, like the fireflies there with Lunaros.

Finn and I have a very exciting announcement to tell you all today. We are pleased to tell you all that we are teaming up with TauntedOctopus and BinaryRabbit of Northern Call and Griffins of Darkholme to create a new wolf sim game - Court of Seasons!

Taunted and Binary decided to close their wolf sim, Northern Call, after a lot of talk with their team. However, Finn and I both love Northern Call and so we decided to offer our assistance either on helping them to redo it or to make a new site together. It was decided that we would be making an entirely new website and so, here we are!

Taunted, Binary, Finn, and I will be the co-owners of it. A mixture of Feranix and Northern Call team members will make up the development team. At this moment, only members of the development team that have finished their current projects for Feranix are joining the Court of Seasons team.

Feranix is still going to be our top priority. It will always be our top priority. It is remaining under mine and Finn's ownership and will be a separate entity from Court of Seasons. Nothing in Feranix is changing. There's absolutely no need to worry about anything on that front. We're still very much in control of Feranix and news about what is going on with it will come soon!

Hey guys!

We’ve got a Feature treat for you guys today regarding our Hunting System. We all want lots of pretty cats, but with great prides come great responsibility. So, let’s get down into the nitty gritty of how feeding your cats will work.

While Hunting on Feranix will be easy to learn, you might find it challenging to master. Fine-tuning your hunting party and training its members will be of the utmost importance in order to have a successful hunt and bring food back to your den.

Hunting Parties

A Hunting Party on Feranix must consist of at least one male and one female. The hard cap on hunting party size is ten individuals. Only adult cats can hunt. Your cubs and adolescents will have to stay at home. The total stats combined of the males in your party (strength + speed + stamina) are your Party Defense. The total stats combined of the females in your party (strength + speed + stamina) are your Party Hunting Prowess. Party Defense is used to fight off scavengers while Party Hunting Prowess is used to catch and kill prey animals.

Successfully defending your hunting party from scavengers will give the males in your party a small boost to each of their stats. Successfully hunting an animal will give the females in your party a small boost to their stats. This is the best way to train up your young cats! Get them hunting early and often and you’ll have seasoned hunters in no time. Let’s look at two Party Structures:

Person A has four (4) cats (one male and three females) in their party. The male has 500 Total Stats going towards Defense and the females have 1200 Total Stats going towards Hunting Prowess.

Person B has seven (7) cats (two males and five females) in their party. The males have 200 Total Stats going towards Defense and the females have 800 Total Stats going towards Hunting Prowess.

While Person A has fewer cats in their party, they have a higher chance to ward off a scavenger attack or succeed in a hunt because their cats are more seasoned.

Hunting Areas

Each male and female in your pride will have 10 “Hunting Steps” per day. After organizing your Hunting Party, you will select from one of three Hunting Areas: Beginner, Medium, or Advanced. Be aware that any cat can enter any of the hunting areas. However, if you choose to enter an area with a hunting party that is too advanced for their skills, you may waste all of your hunting steps and have no meat to show for your effort and no stat increases to show for your hunters.

The Beginner Hunting Area is filled with small prey. Here, you will only encounter lone, weak scavengers. You can easily feed a small pride and train young cats in the Beginner Hunting area. Be warned! If you start expanding your pride with too many members before your cats are strong enough to reliably hunt in other areas, you may have trouble feeding that many inexperienced mouths.

The Intermediate Hunting Area is filled with medium-sized prey animals. Small bands of scavengers roam the Intermediate Area, adding to the risk of searching for the larger prey animals here.

The Advanced Hunting Area is filled with large prey animals, but vicious packs of dire wolves roam this area. Hunting here is a dangerous task and not for the faint of heart, but a good hunting party can bring home enough meat to feed their pride for days.

Starting Out

All new players on Feranix start out with their lead cat and two subcats: one female and one male. This means that you can start hunting in the Beginner Hunting Area on the very first day you login! A small tutorial will guide you through the hunting process the first time you attempt it.

Expanding your hunting party is as simple as breeding new cats into your pride, purchasing cats from other players, or selecting them from the as of yet unnamed “Adoption Area,” where unwanted (and site-generated) cats can be picked up for free.

Good afternoon, everyone!

After much debate from the development team, we came to a pretty major decision! From today forward, RIME is becoming Feranix!! There are a LOT of reasons behind this change, mostly to distance ourselves from the Steam game RiME as well as to better match the overall theme of the site. Feranix is a combination of the Latin “fera” meaning wild and “nix” meaning snow! Considering the world on which Feranix is based is a planet where the Ice Age as we understand it never ended, we think “Wild Snow” fits pretty dang well!

We hope you all love the new name! Nothing else is changing about the game you know! We’re gonna have some lovely new artwork from Nameria later tonight but that is pretty much the only change!

Please be patient as we work to change the names and various links to things! It may take us a few hours to get everything swapped over to the new name. Facebook will take up to 3 days to change the username here so don’t be confused about it!

News on the demo hopefully coming sometime this week - we’re waiting for a coder to get back to us!

I wanted to take the time today to explain exactly what has been going on between the development team of Feranix and the owner of Tremder.

About a week ago, Tremder’s owner posted information that we believed to be insensitive regarding the personal life of one of her former employees. While the information in this post was a matter of public record, we still believed that it was posted in extremely poor taste and without considering the sort of damage it could do to the former employee’s online professional persona. This information has since been removed from Tremder’s pages.

As some of you may know, our Artistic Admin, Miss Hades, was head artist for both Feranix and Tremder. For personal reasons and to devote more time to Feranix, she stepped down from Head Artist of Tremder. About two weeks ago, the owner of Tremder essentially fired Miss Hades for not turning in art on time, despite Miss Hades providing reasons behind her slowness. The manner in which Miss Hades was let go came off as extremely unprofessional to the Feranix team and inconsiderate towards Miss Hades herself but that is her story to tell, not mine. Miss Hades has agreed to provide screenshots of her stepping down if desired.

Due to these events, as well as some others, Finn and I, as Feranix’s owners, made the decision to cut our professional and personal relationships with Tremder’s owner. This was not done out or malice or spite but in agreement to protect the reputation of our own simulation game. We believe that Tremder’s owner’s behavior and association with us would cast an ill-light upon Feranix, something we do not desire.

Upon agreement of Finn, Miss Hades, and myself, we refunded Tremder’s owner the money she used to purchase an alpha account with Feranix. She paid $25 to Feranix to purchase it; Paypal took a small fee of less than $2 out. We returned $25 to her, minus the less tha $2 fee that Paypal takes. Feranix has screenshots to prove this was done and will gladly show them upon request. Some information in the screenshot has been blacked out to protect the privacy of Tremder’s owner.

The reason why we split with Tremder was posted in our public Discord server to allow our supporters there to see it. We decided against posting it on our social media pages so as not to further bleed drama out. However, it is my belief that it needs to be posted now.

Earlier this afternoon, Finn and I were alerted of Tremder’s owner discussing, without mentioning, Feranix and the development team in their public server. One of our Administrators and Artists, Nameria, volunteered to go into Tremder’s server to speak to their memberbase at large and explain. Finn and I gave our permission and screenshots of that conversation can be provided upon request. During this conversation, Miss Hades’s name was specifically stated by Tremder’s owner in regards to her being let go from Tremder. Otherwise, neither Feranix nor Finn or myself were mentioned specifically by Tremder’s owner.

I want to make it exceptionally clear that the Feranix development team as a whole holds no ill-will towards Tremder or its owner. We wish Tremder and its development team all the luck in the world regarding launching. However, we will not tolerate their owner to slander us, even without outright naming us, in their public server. We, Finn, Miss Hades, and myself, did what we did in order to protect Feranix and Feranix’s reputation going forward. We believed it necessary for the well-being of our website as a whole and are posting this now to allow our supporters and userbase to understand our side of the story.
