Take pictures of your plants so they know you carešŖ“
Every year, I buy a lovely shamrock plant for St. Patrick's Day, then proceed to kill it by April.
Went to Huxās office to adjust the height of his desk chair and noticed that the plant I gave him wasnāt on his desk anymore. I asked him where it was, and he said it died.
āNo. Thatās not true. Thatās impossible,ā I thought.
But he pulled a brown, shriveled thing in a ceramic pot out of the wastebasket to prove it.
What...I donāt...how???
Someone come get this man. He needs a level of help that I cannot provide.

So one of my old clients gave me this succulent as a gift right?
He cute and all.
But Iāve discovered Iāve inherited my motherās brown thumb. Iāve had this poor bastard for two days and he already looks like this.
Iām trying to save him but I think it might be too late lmaooooooo.
So I was out grocery shopping at 12:30 a.m. -- as one does when working afternoon/night shifts 40 hours a week -- and I saw these little mini roses that were $5 for a tiny pot. They were cute, and I was feeling impulsive -- once again, as one does when shopping after midnight -- so I bought one.
Well...I thought it was one.
Turns out there were three mini roses in that pot.
In that 2 inch pot.
I get itās forĀ āasthetic,ā and that the cute, tiny pot probably boosts sales, but stuff like this is why so many people think they have aĀ ābrown thumb.āĀ
Put three rose bushes -- even miniature ones -- into a pot that small, and their roots will start to strangle each other before they even leave the store. If the roots have nowhere to go, it doesnāt matter if theyāre in anĀ āeasy waterā pot. You can water and fertilize and full-sun-for-at-least-6-hours-a-day these roses as much as you want, but if you donāt know to repot them from that 2-inch sardine can they were sold to you in, then theyāll probably die before the summerās over anyway.
Which is probably good business for the company selling them like that in the first place. Some people will want to try again next year. And still wonāt repot.
So long rant short, Iād already been planning to repot my new rose before I went to bed, but my little discovery made me scrounge through my recycling at 3 a.m. to find empty milk jugs and plastic cups big enough to be upcycled into two extra rose planters. As one does.Ā
I succeeded, and am now the tired owner of three hopefully-not-going-to-die-of-root-compaction miniature yellow roses.
Letās just hope detangling their roots didnāt send them into shock.
Everything I try to grow dies despite me meticulously looking up care instructions and monitoring conditions. :(
I used to be the person people came to with their dying plants to rehabilitate them, since I moved I can't seem to grow anything, I even killed a spider plant!
Why???
