Now, Grandmaster Flowers is known by the true hip-hop culturalists as a pioneer when it came to the parks jams, mixing techniques and popularity of DJing. Flowers reigned from Brooklyn, New York. He was rocking the disco joints heavy in those parks and clubs. Grandmaster Flowers even opened for James Brown in 1969 at Yankee Stadium. It is said that he is the first DJ ever to add ‘Grandmaster’ to his name. And to add some more spice, Flowers started off as a tagger in Brooklyn, graffiti artist.
