my designs for the mane 6 aren’t too different from their show counterparts, I just like giving them more horse-like qualities!

here are my design thoughts/headcanons!

Applejack: The tallest + biggest of the mane 6, her stature is based on a big, strong draft horse, with big fluffy hooves. Her markings are inspired by Appaloosa horses (for obvious reasons lol!)

Fluttershy: The second tallest, I wanted her to have a tall, lanky but elegant figure, so used Akhal-Teke horses as reference for her. Also gave her face + hoof markings!

Rarity: Rarity’s build was inspired by an Arabian horse! As she’s technically ‘white’ and white horses are born a different colour and grey out as they age, I wanted to make Rarity a horse greying out, with dapples n all! I also gave her traditional curly unicorn hooves!

Twilight: Honestly Twilight remained mostly unchanged, I made her hair a bit shorter and more choppy + gave her facial markings, but apart from that she’s the same!

Rainbow Dash: Also mostly unchanged apart from adding a facial marking. I also gave her shorter hair as pixie cut RD just makes Sense. While she’s not based on any particular breed, I def had sporty, race horses in mind while drawing her.

Pinkie Pie: Finally we have Pinkie, who is prob the design I changed the most! Stature wise she’s def based on a chubby, short n round Shetland pony! I also made her a coloured/piebald horse, since I really think the mismatching markings just suit Pinkies personality. Also had in mind that she’d have one blue + one yellow eye, just to add to that mismatch feel!
