       having  his  head  down  looking  over  some  of  his  notes  for  chemistry  class  wasn't  the  best  way  to  spend  his  first  week  in  their  new  place.  the  first  few  times  his  name  was  called  out  went  right  over  his  head,  scribbling  a  few  formulas  down  as  he  kept  shifting  his  head  between  his  notebook  and  their  textbook.  tapping  his  pencil  against  his  chin  for  a  quick  second,  working  his  way  through  the  practice  problems--even  if  it  was  easy  for  him,  missing  a  few  classes  meant  he  should  still  brush  up  on  it.

       now  he  knew  how  guys  in  fraternities  feel,  waking  up  in  his  bed  with  his  head  pounding,  arms  and  legs  feeling  like  he  got  hit  by  a  truck.  even  if  his  memory  was  foggy,  he  knew  it  wasn't  from  any  kind  of  night  out  partying.  some  of  the  events  were  starting  to  come  back  to  him,  vaguely  remembering  a  portion  of  a  building  coming  down.  at  least  the  bed  was  familiar  to  him,  and  the  room,  and  of  course  who  was  right  across  from  him.  no  serious  head  injury  then.  "  did  i  at  least  make  it  home  first?"  pushing  himself  up  with  his  hands,  wincing  as  pain  shot  up  his  arms,  "  hate  to  see  pictures  of  people  taping  kick  me  signs  to  my  back  while  i  lay  in  the  street."  looking  after  someone  else  was  so  easy  for  him,  taking  his  own  injuries  seriously  though?  a  whole  other  story.
