I Have A Fav. Family Guy Episode?
Yeah, I think I do...
Brian's Death and Brian's Return.
Odd, I know...
So this means I like Brian... and for right now, only Brian from Family Guy.
Huh, that sounds pretty biast of me since I rarely watch Family Guy...
This week on the DR blog in case you missed it:
The podcast came back and discussed Brian's death on Family Guy, Glee's 100th episode, Amazon's delivery drones, and Paul Walker's tragic death. We also looked at the most recent episodes of Boardwalk Empire, Getting On, and The Walking Dead.

Full Family Man dog death scene. I teared up.
Okay, you can't let a scene like this go without someone making fun of it, so here are my jokes.
Top 10 Jokes/comebacks to make for this scene
10. This scene will DRIVE the fans wild!
9. *Gets run over* That's nothing. I've seen more violence playing Hockey.
8. *Squirrel kicks Brian* I completely agree with that Squirrel.
7. *Brian Flat-lines* The only regret he has... is that he got run over.
6. *Gets run over* Wait a minute, wasn't it Stewie's idea to play in the streets?
5. *Brian Flat-lines* That's ridiculous. How could his heart stop if he doesn't have one?
4. *Gets run over* They're never going to talk about the guy who ran him over, are they? No? Then we still have a problem.
3. *Gets run over* Who wants pancakes while watching "Cars"?
2. *Gets run over* Looks like he missed the Quick Time Event...
1. *Stewie Cries* Waaaah! Waaaah! You like that, huh? You like that, waaaah! You just tone this out, don't you? Waaaah! Well, tone this out! Waaaah! *Silence, but then Stewie cries again* Waaaah! *Stops and cries again* Waaaah! *cries one more time* Shut up!
Play me off, Paul! *Epic Music Plays as I fly though the roof*
So I just heard Brian Griffin was killed off on Family Guy. I'm actually really bummed about it.
For a fairly long time as a teenager, from around 13-14 to late 17, I enjoyed Family Guy a great deal. I still like some of the gags I've seen, even if they're just aimless shock treatment - the 9 lives of Quagmire's cat is a prime example. I'm not ashamed - I found the show amusing, and connected with some of the characters. I'm fairly more sensitive to certain issues now, so the lustre I saw has definitely worn off by now - but I still like some episodes and some gags.
I connected the most to Brian and Stewie. They're great friends, and their interactions have been greatly amusing and fairly poignant - they have/had decent chemistry. I still adore Road to Europe, even if it briefly makes fun of the Middle East - the music number was fairly well-done, and though it doesn't show them really working as a team unit they're still travelling Europe together. That's nice, even if Brian is humoring Stewie and setting him up for a fall to teach him a lesson.
So it did surprise me when I learned Brian was killed off. I don't know why it was done, all I know is that it was done in a horrific (if not somewhat realistic) manner. It makes me sad, because between literally retarded brewery worker/alcoholic Peter Griffin, the characterization-depends-on-the-writer Lois, the artistic dumb kid Chris, severely abused offensive caricature of a bullied teenage girl Meg and sexually ambiguous British evil genius baby Stewie, Brian felt the most real.
I won't go "RIP Brian Griffin" because 1: it's fiction, my words mean nothing and 2: with injuries like that, he will probably rest very uncomfortably, but damn I am bummed about his death.
