Spider-Woman #50 (Nocenti/Postman, June 1983). A shocking, unceremonious conclusion for Jess. No one ever seemed certain what to do with this character, but the book worked best for me when it explored unsettling, strange ideas. Poor Jessica always exuded strangeness, and this ending actually upholds that tone: her astral form returns from a quick adventure to find her body already slain.
