this was a jl meeting i decided to not have explicitly written out and just imply the happens of it. it is incomplete. comment if you think i should complete it and tuck it back in.

“Can we add a note or memo that gets sent out that if anyone gets reports on anything supernatural, even if they believe it to be a hoax that they make report to justice league dark so we can make the assessment. Rather than those without the expertise make decisions on what is worthy of being looked into.”

“I’m really sorry zatanna. I blew it off. this is really on me. I saw the fenton’s ghost hunting website and the town’s tourist page and made the call.” ted said. 

“Could have listened to me.”

“We know question!”

“Besides being the first fumble of the ball, what exactly do you bring to the table?” John asked, tapping his cigarettes on the table. “Me nor the kids like having too many hands in the bloody pot.”

Ted looked at Batman reading his friend before addressing the group. “We’ve all met phantom. And have connections with his home town.”

“You had contact with this child and didn’t offer him any mentoring?” Diana asked sharply her disappointment palpable. 

“My only defense and it’s a poor one is, I didn’t know he was doing hero work at all. We know him in civilian i.d. He was just a business and case contact’s family or friend. I never looked into it either. I just thought he was a sassy child who had some issues with his godfather.”

“Little blighter’s sassy alright.”

“Yeah, likes to call rich people fruitloops. I really like that insult. I’ve used it a few times.” booster joked.

Jaime snorted. “Calls beetle the plausibly salvageable fruitloop. He’s the only rich guy I think he sorta kind of tolerates.”

“Kid just likes talking shop. And talking bad about his god father. Which kid knows he’s shady and so did i. He has been one of my cases for a while. But kid liked to warn me about him every time we met. Which was just a few, but it should have been enough for me to look into him. As much as he seemed to loathe him. Something had to be going on between them.”

“Did phantom call this guy fruitloop?”

“He called masters the biggest fruitloop that ever fruitlooped.” Jamie said with a giggle. “I uh gamed with him and his friends.”

“Team phantom? Well you might be worth more salt then i gave ya credit for. At Least to this one." John thumbed at bats. 

“Do they know you are a hero?”

“No, and I didn't know they were either till today.”

“Master’s company Dalvco is working with the guys in white. Supplying them through convoluted government contracts that he’d expand each time he got a new design or update some of the designs were stolen from the Fentons, or their patents were purchased by the government and given to Dalvco to manufacture. Until his godson went missing. Suddenly he’s refusing to update or expand contracts. Letting them run out.” Question added. “The ghost investigation ward, has several facilities around the states, all spread out to collect their specimens. However their main base of operations is in elmerton. It’s close to Amity park. However you can’t get to amity park unless you know where it is already.”

“You can’t get anywhere unless you know where it is Question. This is the communication problem we were just talking about.”

“No wait, shut up goldy. No face Go back. Explain. Now. nobody interrupt." John waved his hand to silence the others. He and zee were focused completely on the question. 

“What is there to explain? Unless you already know where amity park is, you can not go to amity park. The roads will lead you to elmerton or out of town like you’ve passed through it already.”

“You tried to enter the city and couldn’t physically do so?” wonderwoman asked. 

“I wouldn’t call amity park a city. More like a town. And that is correct. To get into the town you have to know where it is. The ghost investigation ward sends new agents in with old agents after they are on boarded so they get into the town. Two agents I have found are natives to the town. It’s why they were recruited.”

“You are with me after this pow wow. You’ve been in, I need that information.”

“Shouldn’t we make a plan together to go check this place out? Since a portal to hell is open there?" Hal asked.

“It’s not a portal to hell.” Zee corrected him.

“And nobody is going anywhere near that place until one! I figure out exactly how it’s warded, and two! The fucking king says we can! It’s his primary haunt still. We do not trespass! That’s a sure fire way to piss him the fuck off more than he already is. It’s like you idiots want us to go to war!”

“Does Elemerton have the same issue?” Batman asked.

“No.”

“What else can you tell us about the GIW facilities there?” Hal asked. That was more his area. 

“It’s where they make the big weapons. The only facilities to make the most powerful and destructive ones. Apparently the ghosts they harvest anywhere outside of amity park don’t have the juice to power them. One of which that’s marked a failure was a nuke, designed to harm ghosts, and damage what they called the ghost zone.”

“They bloody what?!”

“You’re joking?” diana asked.

“Do I look like I'm joking? What do you people not understand about the seriousness of this? Are you even looking for the mole? I’ve known there was one for a while.” question argued. 

“Then why didn’t you say anything?” superman asked exasperated.

“How was I supposed to know who could potentially be a plant? I’m not part of the league. I wouldn’t be allowed to investigate all of you. Besides, my phone got pinged the moment I entered the city. I can’t call the watchtower, the hotline, the hall of justice. Any of the leagues other bases. It all goes straight to the same dead end voicemail system as every other phone that’s been within 50 miles of the amity park.”

“You have other burners question.” Ted argued with his friend.

“I wasn’t trusting to guess who to talk to about this. From my standpoint somebody high up here is helping cover things up. How did the anti-ecto acts get past the league lobbists? This isn’t just one plant or mole. There is a systemic issue here. Across several departments. Kid’s right not to trust you.”

“I like this one. Most brains in the damn room. You want to meet him? He might like you.”

“I’m not a fan of kids.” john shrugged at that.

“Something in the town or the government is flagging phones in the area and blocking them.” aquaman spoke up. “We need to find out if it’s an intercept, or they are doing it in our system.”

“Perhaps question is willing to submit his phone as evidence to aid our investigation.” martian manhunter brought up. 

“I might.”

“Would you be willing to share your information on the giw, vlad masters and dalvco?” batman asked.

“You can have my files bats.” ted let him know why question stared at batman.

“Depends.” question said. “I have some I'm not willing to give up. Not till i know your leak or mole is gone. All of it. Your ship better be squeaky clean before i hand over most of this stuff. In the wrong hands from your own information were doomed. So currently no. but if you want me to answer a few questions in exchange for my own being answered we can come to a mutually beneficial agreement.”

“Deal.”

“Just the two of us batman.” question clarified. He got a grunt of approval. 

“Are these meetings always like this?” jaime leaned over to whisper to booster.

“Pretty much. This is actually been the least argumentive one i’ve sat in.”

“Um i have question for batman, sorry, but any progress to report?” hal asked raising his hand like he’s in school. 

“No.”

“Wishful thinking on my part. Again sorry.”

“From my own extrapolation.” john spoke up. “Just an inkling here. I think everyone needs to back off investigating vlad masters. His businesses and giw. Fair game if the man ain’t present. But if what i’m puzzling together here is right. Everyone needs to steer clear of him till further notice.” batman tipped his head slightly at john. Giving Constantine the go ahead to continue. 

“He’s the wisconsious ghost.” question said. 

“Oh goody. I got it right then.” john gave him a smile crossed with a sucking lemon face. “Bloody Fuck! nobody go near the bastard. Best case scenario you end up dead.”

“How is that the best case scenario?” Superman asked.

“Because the worst case is you tip him off to where the kids are. Plasmius is a polaritera, just like the kiddos. He’s not just cruel, but he’s crazy. Phantom and phantasma are terrified of him. And if those kids are afraid of something it’s bad news.”

“But they are terrified of the league.” Hal said, confused.

“Yeah, and look at ya lot. Nothing but bad news everytime i’m up in this tin can with ya.”

“John.” zee said pointedly. “We;d have to fight and contain him. And right now the only way to do so is with the same technology the giw has. If we do so, we could loose what little trust we have from the little prince. We could also cause great harm to him. Three of the polaritera we know are ancients. It’s possible they all are. We could cause a great catastrophe by injuring him.”

“He has some pull in the realms too. Manipulative. We attack him, he can spin it as without cause and get an army through. If he knows we have contact with the king. He might pull that anyway. Claiming we have him and are holding or hurting him. The man is obsessed with the little king.”

“My wife has some gear from phantom himself. She might be able to do some looking into vlad masters.”

“How did she manage that?” Diana asked.

“Kid gives the shit out like candy.” john mumbled holding his head. “No. it’s not enough and two it could still lead him back to the kids. He’ll recognize the kids work. You do not understand how much they do not want him to find them.”

“They’ll run.” batman answered. “They’ve told robin they will run to draw him away from their friends and family. He is not above torturing and killing their family and friends to force them to his will. He has tortured phantom. He created phantasma and tried to kill her. He may have assaulted phantom.” bruce’s jaw tightened on the word he used. Only his closest friend picking up on it. “We can’t risk them fleeing. Anything could happen to them once they are in the wind and we might not be able to track them.”

“Who all here has tech from phantom?” Aquaman diverted the conversation. “Can we reverse engineer any of it? His tech certainly doesn’t use the same methods of the giws.”

“They don’t. Nor do they use the same methods as plasmius. Plasmius makes ghosts to use in his.”

“He murders people to make weapons?”

“No, he kills animals to make weapons, and splices his ghost animals together.” question said. “The fenton;s and ghost investigation ward collect all kinds of ghosts to convert into weapons. What does the king use?”
