My father is a former athlete. Until now, he goes to the gym regularly. We believe that his consistent physical activity is the main reason why he has a sharp memory considering his age. Anything he studies, he remembers. When he had his nursing licensure exam, he didn't review, but he still got a high average. Ask him anything about medical and nursing topics, he will instantly give you a free lecture. He also took several tests to become a licensed herbalist/insurance agent/manager and he got the highest scores. I think students should also have more psychomotor activities. Making exercise part of their morning routine could surely make a difference. Physical activities are indeed cognitive candies.
Great, new ideas restore my energy. And these great, new ideas arrive when I’m on vacation. Now, I know why.
What usually grabs your attention? Shoes? Clothes? Food? Books? Kids’ laughter? People’s way of talking? Someone’s mistakes? Be aware. Our brain pays attention to things that we give importance. Let us ask ourselves. Have we been putting significance to worldly things or heavenly matters?
“Exercise improves children. Physically fit children identify visual stimuli much faster than sedentary ones. They appear to concentrate better. Brain-activation studies show that children and adolescents who are fit allocate more cognitive resources to a task and do so for longer periods of time.”
