This is one of many hair ropes used during the reconstruction of Higashi Hongan-ji Temple in 1895 in Kyoto. As there was no rope strong enough to hoist the temple’s massive wooden beams, in response, female devotees cut off their hair and braided it into strong and thick ropes.

Created as merch first, this was sparked during my watch of the movie, where it clicked for me that this was an evolution of Mermaid Melody’s standard plot. I really fell in love with how the movie used it’s characters and the music within the plot and with MerMagic con around the corner, I did a bit of rushing to complete them. I kept Zoey as close to the MMPPP’s style as much as possible given her personality; Mira was altered with more inspiration from her action attire; Rumi had more elements of the Black Beauty Sisters given her half-demon nature, with even inspiration from the manga for her microphone. I’m honestly really proud with how well this crossover came out!
