Things I found while packing: this book called Boytalk: How to Talk to Your Favorite Guy, c. 1992, which is so ridiculous it deserved its own post.
I’m only sharing excerpts from the “Rocker” section, but the other types of guys included in this book are: The Jock, The Brain, The Nature Guy (basically a hippie), The Prep, and The Surfer. Each section includes a list of slang terms that those types of guys supposedly used, but I swear to you, over half of them are slang terms no one used. Like, most of the book reads as though the author has never spoken to a human before. (It has a very “how do you do, fellow kids?” vibe.)
I don’t even remember why I have this book—didn’t remember its existence until I found it—but I’m keeping it because I need to use parts of it in a zine someday. It’s imperative.
