The princess bride is such a funny movie because everything I know about the book it’s based on implies the book is a serious, run-of-the-mill YA medieval romance adventure novel

And the movie took that and ran so far the book can’t even see a hint of the movie on the horizon, the horizon beyond which is the land of everlasting, eternally amusing comedy films

Also there’s an in-movie explanation for why the movie is so different and it’s the grandpa reading to the kid. The man knows no kid his grandsons age is gonna enjoy the real book so he just. Makes stuff up. I love it

it’s so funny in a horrible way that people will say kris isn’t nonbinary and then turn around and say that the literal self-insert character (that’s kinda how i see the soul ig the collective idea is cool too tho) is genderless it’s messed up

guys, the soul is the one you can project on, the one whose gender you can realistically choose (as of rn anyways). kris is an established character and an established nb character and it’s stupid to try to change that, especially if you then say the one character with gender up to interpretation has no gender (unless that’s just how you see the soul in which case power to you)

Both have little to no relevance on anything but the little that is there is so intricately hidden everyone sees mysteries in their games and assumes they’re the ones behind with no explanation other than ‘this has to be intended no way would anyone ever create any lore accidentally noooooo’

and both of the fandoms annoy the hell out of me with their obsessive speculations like guys shut up and think about other possibilities for once god
