My thoughts on Home by BOYNEXTDOOR
What is tumblr for if not to share my thoughts because no one else I know is in my fandom, lol.
Here are my thoughts on all the songs from Home, by BOYNEXTDOOR
06070 - The lyrics are amazing. (I always look up the english translations of songs, lol). It starts with Jaehyun talking about how when he was twenty, he was struggling to get by and living with regret, so he is pushing himself to achieve his dreams. It ends with Woonhak when he is twenty performing for so many people. also this chunk in the middle is PURE POETRY - "flashiness becomes a debt/borrowed for a moment/ the interest is inferiority complex"
Viral - this song has been living in my head rent free, which was their goal, lol. I love the dance, especially the part with the kick. FABULOUS. the 'te quiero, señorita" is on repeat in my head and I saw them talk about how this song is about lack. The need of something. GENIUS. I also love the line "I'm on my money/ but I'm on my lonely"
ddok ddok ddok - I think I have this song almost memorized by now. I love the music video and the rhythm and how they list all their album names. I also love when they unironically use the word rizz. Also Leehan's voice is like crack. The pre-chorus is my favorite part.
Adios! - this song is so fun! It's so poppy and bouncy and then you read the lyrics and YOU NEED TO READ THE LYRICS. "There is no such thing as a day without regret/ and that's why we keep living" ; "Youth passes/ pain passes too/ what's left behind is a lingering sense of regret/ even that passes too/ in the end/ everything moves on/ too painful to stay as it is/ oh, aching youth" How do you make a song about REGRET fun? But they did.
Upside Down - the way they sing the words upside down is SO SATISFYING. It is also SO FUN! It's about how we need to turn the boring petty stuff in life upside down and have fun!
DIVE - classic love song type lyrics and it's perfect for Riwoo. I love all the water imagery with the drowning and CPR. This one is honestly the least memorable for me, but still super enjoyable!
Forever You - reading the lyrics made me cry. They wrote it for their parents. One thing that I love about it is because it is for their parents, they wrote it all in Korean except for one and a half lines. Here is some of the stuff that GOT ME. "Even on the days I hate myself/ you love me" SHUT UP AAAAH. "As many moments pass by/ a child becomes an adult/ and even when an adult becomes a child again/ please remember me" Having the chorus be even when you are old and get dementia to remember me is diabolical and so freaking emotional. "Mom, I had a dream/ that you're leaving me/ Dad, everyone dies, I know/ that you're leaving" again a diabolical way to open a song. Woonhak's bridge about his grandpa was the one that hit the closest to home for me. "How are you grandpa?/ Are you doing well these days?/ How am I doing,/ the one you're watching from over there?/ I've made up my mind/ to surely return the love I've recieved/ To Mom, Dad, my younger sibling, and also to Grandma/ I should have taken some family photos/ When I get tired/ I still miss that hearty laughter/ Whenever I remember you/ I become a little kid again." My grandpa is also dead and this explains some of my feelings so well. I love how genuine everyone in this song is, because they all helped write it.
I Wonder - I love the play on words because the fandom is OneDoor and I am a huge fan of puns, lol. I've probably listened to this one the least, tbh. I don't have super strong feelings on it.
